We ate here - lunch and dinner - about eight times during a five week stay in Jumilhac le Grand in September and October. Good fun, very genuine - the owners have been there for seventeen years and have a loyal local following. Nathalie is fantastic - non-stop, very friendly and cheerful - and going back so many times says what we think of the food and value. A really good place.

Drove through the town with a picnic one day and noticed this place in front of the Chateau with a good menu, and promised to come back a few days later.

The sun was out when we got the last table. When we heard steak frites was the plat du jour, both went for that. A counter with help yourself cold starter was fine, and the steak perfectly cooked for me, though if you don't like rare, make sure you highlight this. Choice of dessert or cheese to follow. Drinks are not dear, and the three courses was about €13 if I recall.

Staff are efficient and friendly. Setting is priceless, worth a visit.

Eat here twice in May and June. My parents have (had) house overlooking the village. We had had the odd drink here but never eaten. Sad events brought us here in May and spent my 50th birthday here rather with family.

Had heard that the food here was very good but a little expensive but decided we give it go, after 15 years it was the first time we had eaten here.

Anyway, went into village on wet May Sunday lunchtime, being Brits and campers we braved the covered terrace, try to miss the drips. Typical British summer in France! Not being the most fluent in French or understanding all the menu we went with safe option of omelette and chips. I know sad but we wanted something light as we had to walk the 1.5km back to the house, have you driven that road!

We decided on a quick beer and nice bottle of blanc to go with meal. The food came and I have to say we were gobsmacked by the presentation, long narrow white porcelain plates (Samie), well dressed salad and it was perfect.

We were happy to sit there but decided on a sweet to share, can't remember full title but it ended "creme anglais" it was basically lemon meringue pie with cold custard but it was truly divine. The presentation was a-maze-ing, (see pic), it was too good to eat but we did.

Meal followed up by a coffee and hot chocolate and a horse parade. A completely random end to a birthday that wasn't supposed to be in France.

Second visit was about 6 weeks later, food was equally as good. The weather was warmer and there were 3 large parties under the terrace. There was a steady stream of people eating here.

If you visit or pass through then take an hour and have a meal here. The location is great, the food is amazing and of course the company will always be with loved ones.
