“WELL LOCATED FOR SKVASTA AIRPORT”
Reviewed 31 August 2012

This hotel is situated 8 kms from Skavsta airport and beside the E4. It is certainly an excellent place to stay for access to the airport. It is situated in a retail park on the outide of the town. However, a taxi to or from the airport will cost 215KES which is a consideration in the overall cost of travel. It would be useful for the hotel to negotiate a discounted rate for taxis or provide their own transfers at a reduced cost. Parking is free which is a bonus.

Our room was large, a comfortable bed but lacked comfortable seating. It was quiet and well maintained. The breakfast was really good, described as continental but with all the usual things for such a breakfast with quality cheeses and the additon of bacon and scrambled egg.

My one gripe is the charge of 50 Swedish Kroner (£5) for eight hours WiFi connection so you would be much better to walk around the corner to McDonalds and get free WiFi and enjoy a large coffee for 18 Swedish Kroner.

We were very satisfied with our one night stay ten minutes from the airport.

Check-in took forever because the clerk was also the bartender and server in the restaurant. The quoted price did include use of the very poorly working WiFi. An extra $8 to use WiFi that constantly goes off line and must be restored by using a ridiculously long username and password? Guys, this is 2012, take a look at McDonalds.

The room was ok, but with several items fixed in a makeshift way. If you quickly need a place for a night, stop at McD, check your email and crash at Ibis.

The hotel is very poorly signed but luckily I had downloaded a map to Google and found it by locating the McDonald's next door! Room was quite large and quite. TV had only 6 channels and barely worked. Shower was ok and bathroom was adequate but the shower had a plastic water retainer placed around it and under it the floor was filthy. In addition it didn't retain the water which they obviously knew given they provided us with a squeegy mop head to squeegy the water back into the drain so the bathroom didn't flood. I have stayed in some awful hotels in my time but never have been expected to squeegy a floor...very dangerous too with all the surface water. After enjoying Ibis Luton, UK I was stunned that a supposedly equivalent hotel could be this poor. I have stayed in Ibis Budget (Etap) and they have all been far superior. Given the lack of reasonable priced accommodation in Nykoping there isn't really much competition and it shows. Also be warned that by 8pm apart from one bar and 1 pizza joint Nykoping was completely closed on a Friday night!! Even McDonalds in town closes at 8pm!

We arrived late on a rainy evening, grateful to have found a hotel as we had altered our travel plans and had no reservations anywhere and no idea where hotels were located along our way. I am not an Ibis Hotel chain fan, but this one is fine. Hotel staff friendly and helpful. Room larger than usual by Swedish standards, clean, quiet, comfy bed. We arrived after the bistro was closed, but the night staff kindly offered to rustle up some food for us. Breakfast buffet not included, rather pricey, but a wide choice of items and no problem about making a packed lunch from it. Good coffee. Staff even filled our coffee thermos with a smile and no extra charge. Internet access at a small charge. Conveniently located just off major highway E4. Ample private parking. Lower weekend rates.

A reasonable hotel for the price - simple, dated rooms (but warm and just about comfortable enough), situated on the outskirts of town. The staff were not especially friendly or welcoming, but to be fair, not difficult either. Breakfast is not included, and you may be able to do better in town (eg Scandic's Sunday brunch buffet, where you'll get more for your money). There's a Max hamburger place next door, otherwise few food choices nearby.
