The hotel itself is ok. It seems to be going through a refurbishment. We were unfortunately put into an old room which was ok but a bit tatty.
We had ordered an extra bed for one of our children but it was not in the room when we checked in at 12:00, which was not really a problem then. We pointed it out to reception who said that they would sort it for us. We went out and returned to our room some 5 hours later to find that the bed had still not been put into our room. We mentioned it again to reception and they said that they would sort it out for us.
There was no menu in the room, so we took a walk to the restaurant to check out the menu. None of the restaurant staff acknowledged us waiting in the doorway, so after a short while we decided to take our business somewhere else.
After returning to the hotel from dinner at 21:00 with two tired children in tow, we entered our room to find that the spare bed had still not arrived!! We put the children to sleep in our bed and then phoned reception. We were told that they had been busy and had not had time to bring the bed up. Does it really take 10 hours to put a bed in a room? Apparently it does at the Scandic Skogshojd! We had to wait over an hour (now 22:00) for some from the kitchen, who was obviously on a fag break (from the smell of cigarettes) to bring up a bed.
I would like to say there was one saving grace in the shape of a lady serving breakfast who made a point of talking to the children and offering them pancakes.
We use Scandic Hotels quite often but I won't be making a return visit to Skogshojd.
