The hotel is situated on the cliff side of Trollhatten with a wonderful view of the valley, town & Gota Canal. The hotel is well sign posted and easily found once on the north side of the valley.
The town was famous for its falls, which caused major engineering work for the Gota Canal to be built. The resultant system of water control and power generation is impressive and at 3PM on Saturday afternoons the sluices are opened and the effect gives a good impression of what the Falls were like 150 years ago.
T%he hotel reception, bar and restaurant are in a lovely old, quirky former residence with the benefit of a small terrace looking south. The building has a lovely feeling with a warm atmosphere and friendly welcome.
The accommodation is situated in a separate detached building to the side of the property built on two floors and offering room with a view and either access to the garden or a small balcony. Other rooms on the north side face onto the car park and a bit public as people walk by. There is a tea coffee machine in the accommodation block together with a games room. The rooms themselves are modern and functional without being overly comfortable. The beds are good and generally very clean. There is a TV and free Wi-Fi.
On arrival there is a lovely afternoon tea offered with cheese, salads, fresh cakes and hot drinks. The restaurant food is well prepared and uses local products where possible. There is a good 6 course menu or a smaller three course depending on your package. The food was well presented and served at a good pace to make the evening an occasion rather than just food. The usual wine menu or good wine list is offered with reasonable priced wines.
Breakfast was typically Scandinavian with excellent variety of breads, yogurts, cereal and homemade marmalade. There is also offered a hot buffet of eggs and bacon.
The service was excellent, both informative about the foods and given with a friendly disposition.
There is good parking at the hotel and some nice walks from the hotel to enjoy the views. The town is about a 15 minute walk away and worth going to enjoy a stroll and take a drink in one of the canal side bars.
