Life has led me to spend about 60 nights at this hotel in Lerum, outside Gothenburg, Sweden. The first reviewer is correct: the rooms are small, the room window is high so, although it is large, the view is limited. One side of the hotel has a lovely view of Lerum’s Aspen Lake, especially attractive at sunset. However, there is a major highway between the hotel and the lake, so the view is mixed and noise, on the highway side, is a problem. Rooms on the east side of the hotel, way from the highway, face shrubbery or a municipal services building. Take your pick.
Although I kept my window open and the thermostat down during my last stay, the heat was still a bit too high. The fixtures in most bathrooms are fine, but check them before unpacking your bags!
Breakfast is OK, although not a bargain. After eight weeks of evenings I’ve had one appetizer. The toast skagen was fine.
The above being side, the property is reasonably bright and attractive. The rooms have just been refurbished so the mattresses are now firm and most fixtures are in good shape. The staff, other than the manager, is delightful. The manager isn’t a problem; she just seems preoccupied with matters other than guests.
In short, on a value for money basis the Lerum IBIS is reasonable. If it’s on your route, it’s worth a stay!More
