“Good hotel, but not on hot summer-days!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 August 2014

Pros:
- Very friendly staff
- Spacious rooms
- Nice location by the river, close to trams and buses
- Good breakfast

Cons:
- No aircondition. This spoiled our sleep on two of the three days we spent here. The friendly staff gave us a key so we could open the windows all the way. Without it, we would have left!
- Nothing on the walls in the room makes the atmosphere a bit sterile....
- A bit far from the center of the city

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the river.

A modern hotel, nice waterside location but too far to walk into town - so you have to wait for ferry or tram.
Car park overfull.
Kids everywhere running around - very geared up for families.
Room fine but basic.
Restaurant far too busy for staff to keep up with.

Room Tip: Make sure you get waterview

Have stayed a couple of times. The location isn't quite perfect for the centre of town-it's not really walkable so a taxi is needed OR borrow one of the free hotel bikes and ride the flat couple of miles in. Views if the river and bridge are really nice. Breakfast is pretty good. Staff are helpful and friendly. Price us in-swedenly low.

Booked one night at the Novotel Goteborg a trip back to Copenhagen, I booked this particulate hotel due to being a Gold Le Club member.

Staff at check in where friendly, and helped get me checked in quickly, I was allocated a room 400, at the corner of the building overlooking the bridge.

The room itself is tired, I would say that it's in need of a renovation. The bathroom however had been newly renovated in this room (assuming they all have), and this was fantastic.

Restaurant for dinner was good, food good & service great, Definitely worth a try.

Breakfast, OK, but stuff everywhere, nothing appeared to be in a logical order & as such you had to go hunting to find what you where looking for.

Rooms at this hotel do get hot in Summer, however this is standard around Scandinavia as no hotels have been built for the heat.

Main con here, and it is the same at a lot of ACCOR hotels, is lack of recognition for Le Club Status.. It now seems pointless to be a member. Zero recognition at this hotel for current status, even though card was presented on check in.

If in Goteborg give it a try, you shouldn't be disappointed.

This is an excellent hotel, with ample rooms and superb service. Located in an old brewery refurbished and modified for hotel accommodation. Nice staff with personal approach. The Hotel has its own ample parking lot. Convenient transport service to town centre is facilitated by enjoyable frequent ferry boat service for pedestrians only. No parking problems once in town, while transport if required, can be done by street tram. Highly recommended.
Interesting Note:
In front of the Novotel lays the city's first deepwater harbour defended by the old Älvsborg fort dating from 1300s. In the 1700s the East India Company made Klippan its home port. In 1800s the Carnegie Porter Brewery was founded. In 1928 this brewery was taken over by Pripps brewery and continued in the Carnegie brewery till 1976, and then moved to Falkenberg.

We were here at the end of may. Hotel is situated directly on the water a bit off from Gothenburgs centrum but you can get to the center quite easy by tram. Järntorget and 2:a långgata are not so far away. We shared one room with 4 people for one night. All rooms have a sleeping-couch. It worked fine with 4 people. Breakfast was really great. We will definatly come back.
