“Affordable and central”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

We stayed for one night in a twin room (2 separate beds and a sofa bed). The room was small, if we had used the sofa bed we would have to crawl around over the beds. The bath room was very spacious though. The room interior is OK but the corridor and the stairs look a bit shady. The beds were hard and I did not have a very pleasant sleep (but that could have been caused by the extreme heat wave as well)

The room was clean and had pictures by my mum's favorite artist on the walls, off course to my mum's contentment. Safety box can be found in the reception, no refrigerator and no AC in the room - so make sure to ask for a fan when booking a room (no extra charge!). We asked for a room towards the garden to avoid the noice from the trams, which was arranged. We were upgraded for free

Free tea/coffee/pastries are found by the reception were you also can buy different soft drinks. The breakfast buffet is ok food wise (and ok for vegetarians!) though logistically a mess. The garden is not very pleasant and only has a couple of tables. The buffet was open until 11, which allows sleep-ins!

The staff is very service-minded when there, but a bit stressed over the phone.

Parking in locked garage is available for 150 SEK/day. (Parking in the street is 25SEK/hour 8-22). The hotel is easily accessed by tram. Free cable and wifi.

We came to Gothenburg for vintage/second hand shopping and for that Hotel Vasa was situated perfectly! You find both Haga and Avenyn by foot in a couple of minutes! In nearby Haga you will find lots of restaurant options as well! Due to its location and being quite cheap, we could absolutely come back for another stay!

Room Tip: To avoid noice from trams passing by, ask for a room towards the garden. No AC, ask for a fan when...

My wife and I stayed here for three nights visiting our son who now lives in the city. The room was not over-large but adequate. The staff were very friendly and helpful. No tea/coffee facilities in the bedroom, though there is a coffee machine, free to use, in the lobby. There is a basic lounge area. Breakfast is a standard Continental affair. Best thing about the hotel is its central location. There is no dining room but plenty of restaurants nearby.

The rooms at this hotel are small and the breakfast room and food is well below par. Even though we called to indicate a late arrival we were put in a terrible room on the top floor. This was made up for by the good location and the very friendly staff.

Room Tip: Try to get a room away from the main street.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. the hotel's location is excellent with just 10 mins walk to almost all major tourist attractions. There are lot of nice restaurants nearby and also in adjacent street (Vasagatan). You can walk to Haga (the old town) and most trams pass by from Vasagatan.

The hotel staff was very friendly and always willing to assist. They offer free coffee, tee, juices and cookies whole day. This was a plesant surprise. The hotel also has a sauna facility though we didn't try it.

Overall we had a nice stay and would recommend to fellow travellers.

We were making a trip to Norway , and we should sleep one night in Göteborg .
Though we had phone reservations for a budget room 4 days before, on the spot, they said that is no room reservation for us.
My advice is to double check the reservations for that hotel.

I was only in Gothenburg very briefly as my train arrived really late and I left early the next morning. However, this hotel was within walking distance of both the central train station and the venue of the concert I came in for so it was very convenient. The staff was really friendly and had snacks out at all times to munch on which was great as I got back late from the gig and was quite hungry LOL. And though the reservation included breakfast but the hours were too late for me and my early train departure, the night girl offered to have a couple sandwiches made for me to take along on my ride which was very sweet and helpful.

As for the hotel and room, the only thing that was a bit hard was there were I think 6 steps to get up before the elevator and I had a huge, heavy suitcase but the room itself was very large! It actually had a sitting/living area with a couch and a couple tables, then the bathroom was off of that on one side, the bedroom on the other. The bathroom was a bit small but then again, I've had worse in other parts of Europe so I'm guessing it'd be considered average for the area.

I really liked my time in Sweden in general (was also i Malmo and Stockholm) and hope to come back so I'd definitely consider this hotel again. =o)

There is a tram ride to get to the hotel from the train station. The hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood close to the the old district (Gamla Stan) of Gotherburg. The staff was nice, room was clean, breakfast was good and the wife was reliable.
