“Not bad ”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2014 via mobile

Stayed here one night, staff was helpful and the bed was okay for one night's sleep even if I felt the bed was a bit short.

When I showered in the morning the first shower I tried to used would not get warm, but I could just go to the next one which went warm fairly quickly.

Price wasn't too bad, but I was still a little bummed out by having about a third of the cost of staying here for renting sheets as it wasn't ok only having a sleeping bag.

Stayed July 2014, travelled solo

Thank you for your response. I am really glad that you enjoyed your stay at our hostel. We will look for the shower that you mentioned to guarantee that it is warm.
We are still trying to give our guest the choice to keep the cost's down by bringing their own sheets. This is still the most common solution in Scandinavia......but we are slowly waking up. Next time you come it might be included ;-)
Best regards

The hostel is nice and clean, personal is helpful. You can see that the furniture is bit older and used, also the rooms (at least the one we had), but everything is taken care of, everything is clean and tidy. Also the kitchen is nice, clean and big.

Staff is professional and helpful. Stayed in the 16 beds male dorm room is a bad choice if you want to have quality sleep. The bed is not really comfortable but acceptable. Common rooms( kitchen, toilets...) are cleaned everyday which is a plus side. Breakfast is not bad but not worth the money. Wifi signal is weak and hard to connect so you have to retry several times. Walking distance to city center is around 25 minutes if you are familiar with the area but there is a tram stop down the street which you can get to the city in less than 10 minutes. Overall it is a good hostel with some deficiencies.

Hi
I am sad that you just found us avarage. The beds in the dorms are hotelbeds that are built in to create "pod beds" where you have curtains, powe socket and adjustable light to give you as much privacy as possible.
We just changed WiFi a couple of weeks ago to a high speed connection. It has not been working all that great in the beginning, but now it's "up and running"

Definitely a mix review on this one.

It’s not a cheap place to stay, my 4 night stay with my wife and 2 young children came to 5100sek. For this you also have to clean you own room on the checkout day.

The bed was very uncomfortable. In fact the mattress was so thin it has left my hips bruised as it did provide any protection from the bed frame underneath!

When we tried to buy a city pass they had none meaning we had to go into the City centre to buy one. Not a big problem, but it meant the city card was no longer a viable option for us due to not being able to offset the cost of public transport.

The advertised film was “Heat” every single night for some reason.

You could borrow or buy an umbrella, which was handy for us because it was raining very hard when we had to go to a wedding in the church next door. Unfortunately, buying is the same price as borrowing! The 79sek umbrella broke in about 9 minutes, luckily I only needed it for 8.5 mins to walk next door. It would probably have been cheaper to get a taxi!

The breakfast was good quality, but when you have paid for a family of 4 and cannot get to the food or sit at a table because there is a massive coach party in the restaurant, it’s a little frustrating.

On the plus side the room was clean and modern. The sheets and towels were clean and good quality and the breakfast staff were very efficient. The communal kitchen was good, clean and useful and the wifi worked. The location is very good too.

Would I recommend it to anybody else? Probably not.

Hi there
I am sad that you were not all that happy after staying here. Most guests find it very price worth.
We will read and try to figure out what room you have had, where the beds were not good. We have plenty of new beds and bedding matrasses and we are changing when needed.
Umbrellas are often needed in Göteborg therefor we hand them out to everyone for 79 kr. If you want to keep it, you can. If you just need it for the visit, we pay back the full amount when returned.
I understand that the value for the citycard are less if you have to go downtown to buy them. The provider of the cards had decided that they should be the only salespoint for them during the winter. I don't know why, but now, we and most other hotels/hostels are selling them again.
Hope to see you here again. You are warmly welcome.

Stayed here for the Summerburst festival and couldn't have been more impressed. Value for money this has to be the best place to stay in Gothenburg, about 200m from the nearest tram stop and walking distance to the park (which has mini golf and frisbeegolf - both a must!). The hostel has a sauna which is free from 7-8pm or 40SEK for any other time. The only oddity was paying for linen (which was cheap anyway). Thoroughly recommend!!

Staff is very kind and breakfast is good though too late (7:00 in weekdays, 8:00 in week-end).
My room was comfortable and clean. Since they are both hostel and hotel, you can also use the common kitchen and other common spaces usually provided in hostels.
Price is high but not higher than other hotels in Sweden.

Even though there was nothing especially wrong with the hostel, it was not 'amazing' either. The best thing about the hostel is the staff, they were very friendly and helpfull. The common room was also nice and looked really modern. They have pretty good movies there every night, which is really nice. However, the bathrooms are quite old and therefore smelly, the 4 mixed dorm I stayed in was really small and dark. Luckily, the staff was kind enough to give us another room. Unfortunately, the hostel lacked a backpacker atmosphere. I would probably not go here as a single traveler, but it was fine as I was there with a friend. The kitchen is nice and big but lacked equipment. An advice to this hostel would be to arrange more social activities for young travelers.
