This is a wonderful hotel. Helpful staff, great food, scrupulously clean. I was worried it would be a little far from the venue I was visiting but I occassionally did the 30 minutes walk, however the buses run like clockwork straight past the front door and at very regular intervals. The tram stop, for venturing further afield, is 15 minutes walk and again runs like clockwork. I'm so pleased I booked here.

Hotel Orgryte is a family-owned, very comfortable hotel with friendly staff. It is situated in a very quiet residential area, relatively close to the city center (only a few minutes by bus and about 30 mins walking). Our room was HUGE by any standards, with beautiful rugs and more furniture than in most hotels. The room was very cozy and clean and though facing the street, very quiet. The breakfast was delicious and varied. The hotel has a friendly atmosphere and on the hallways there are shelves with books you can borrow. We would like to stay here again and we believe this is a very nice option for the budget conscious traveler.

The hotel has an extremely nice and helpful personnel. Stayed here now 4 times and so far not found a question that remained unanswered.
Almost everything is FREE here:
Internet - and it works!
Sauna-rather good, too.
Gym, OK, have to walk 3 minutes, but this is a proper gym.
Parking
Not 100 % sure, but there even might be free soup in the evening.

If I am in or near (within an hour) of Gothenburg, I stay here every time.
There is an Indian near by with a very good food, service is a bit greasy spoon.

This hotel does not have a restaurant, just a small breakfast area. Breakfast is typical Scandinavian, they start with a coffee and may add a slice of rye bread with cheese.
Orange Juice was OK, there were fresh fruits etc., so enough variety.

Rooms are a bit like visiting somebodys granny in Sweden, but i like this.

Room Tip: Take a room at the back, there is a busy road on the fron side.Even top floor at the back is almost ground level, this is on a steep hill.

I chose this hotel partly because of the positive reviews here and partly because they were able to offer a family room for two adults and three children. The hotel was easy to find and the location was quite ok being not quite in the city center but still within a reasonable walking distance. The small parking space outside the hotel was almost full but we were able to squeeze in.

The front desk was friendly but for some reason wanted to have the whole payment in advance. The price of the family room was outrageous 2090 SEK (about 250 EUR) per night! Having not seen the room I excepted to enter into a palace after paying this amount, but the room consisting of two bedrooms, a small kitchen and a bathroom was disappointing. It seemed like the room had not been renovated in 30 years: the floor and the furniture was worn, the electrical equipment was old and there was no air conditioning. On the other hand, the room was spacious, clean and quiet and we all slept well.

Breakfast was excellent and the staff always friendly, but I would recommend this hotel only if you get a good deal. We paid too much.

This small hotel situated just minutes away from the center of town in Gothenburg city truly reflects what family-run hotels should be like. As you approach the hotel, you see flags of different nations hoisted outside; a reflection of all the different nationalities which are staying at the hotel. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are wonderfully neat and attention to detail can be seen as soon as you walk through the entrance of the lobby. There is always a jug of ice cold water situated next to the entrance, along with some fruits. The breakfast is spectacular - and normally the owner will be present to greet you in the morning. Reasonably priced for Gothenburg, I truly recommend this place to anyone traveling for business or on a family excursion.
