“A most convenient choice in Göteborg”
Reviewed 28 April 2014

The hotel is very well situated just a minute walk from the central station and a mere half hour by shuttle from the airport. The facilities and staff were very good. The value for money is excellent, especially for Sweden which tends to offer very expensive hotels.

Very importantly for business travellers, the WiFi access was excellent and without funny portals or restrictions for multiple devices.

Nothing bad to say about this hotel. Nothing particularly good either, I am afraid. Location is nice of course. Breakfast tend to be crowded. It does the job however, so if the price is nice ... book!

I stayed here during my business visit to Gothenborg and maybe mislead by a booking website. It certainly does not deserve their rating when it comes to rooms, privacy, view, restaurant (not in that order).

The rooms are noisy and will let you know when your neighbours arrive (cardboard walls?). The rooms are small by all standards. Even I being a light traveller, tripped over my own bags to reach the bed. The view inside? Just into your opposite neighbourse window.

When trying to eat something in the restaurant (quite big) I was surprised by a verbal menu by a young waitress leaving me the choice between cod or hamburger. Whattt?

After this I ought to mention that staff friendliness is outstanding, lobby is quite relaxed. Have been thinking about booking that one next time...

First time in this hotel. Convenient location, nice lobby, quite tiny room on the courtyard, needing renovation : leaking taps, garbage pipe smell after the shower, worn out towels, cheap bathroom furniture. It was so cold in my room that they had to bring an extra electric heater. The housekeeping is poor : dirty carpet, and no towel yesterday. The gym room is a joke : a tiny room in the cellar with 3 machines.

We have recently returned from a 10-day trip to Sweden. The trip was amazing, and the final 2 nights were at the Grand Hotel Opera - this was the most expensive hotel we stayed in as I'd wanted it to be a special couple of nights relaxing at a top quality spa hotel... The result was an overpriced hotel (1379SEK per room per night) which, in quality, style and service, was most similar to the 370SEK per room per night hostel we stayed at in Central Stockholm! The Radisson Blu hotels we stayed in were cheaper/similarly priced, but exceptionally good value - we will be sticking to either one of the Radisson Blu hotels in Gothenburg next time.

Positives:
- free wifi;
- good breakfast (not quite Radisson Blu standard, but pretty good - we enjoyed cooking our own waffles!);
- staff friendly and as helpful as they could be within the hotel's restrictions;
- luggage storage for check out day.
- location - opposite central station and across from central bus station.

Negatives:
- dirty stains on the hallway floors;
- health and safety issues within old part of the hotel
-- step up into bedroom without sign or tape to make visitors aware;
-- step up from bedroom to bathroom, again without a sign or tape;
- talks of being a spa hotel online, but we were never told where the spa was, and it was extra cost (unlike Radisson Blu)
- tiny, cold room - similar size to the 370SEK per room per night hostel;
- all other places we stayed provided free tea and coffee in the room (even the hostel). We requested a kettle and mentioned that even the hostels had provided this. We were told that we could be given a flask of hot water (not tea or coffee) but that electrical appliances were not allowed in the rooms - strange - we had 3 table lamps, an iron, a hair dryer, an extension lead for some of the lamps, and at least 4 sockets! Oh, and a few sentences earlier when we said the room was freezing, we were told an electric heater would be put in the room to warm it up for us!

If you have more money than sense, and simply want to be right opposite the station, regardless of the extremely high cost for a glorified hostel, go for it. If you like to pay a good price for an exceptional hotel and service, go for the Radisson Blu - either Riverside or Scandinavia - both are fab!

This i the perfect hotel if you want to be near the railway station. It's nothing wrong with it otherwise, but it's just an average business hotel for us average business travelers.
When we asked for restaurant advise we were got suggestions for food chain places. A sign in the elevator stated that the hotel restaurant was closed. As I had seen the chef in the reception I asked the girl in the reception and she said it was open and added "Oh, maybe that's why the dining room is so empty". The sign was still up when I left the hotel.
The rain was pouring so we went for the dining room and found the food OK but not great. 3 star again
The rooms were small but with the necessities. Since this is a 4 star hotel I was expecting some more than soup in the bathroom, but forget it. On the plus side: there was an ironing board and an iron in the closet.
When we should check out the receptionist was so inexperienced that he didn't manage to give us the bill. We had to make a runner to not miss our bus and when we came back to pay the bill I found 3 calls from the hotel on my voicemail.
So, top sum it up: average hotel, more 3 star than 4 star quality. Very unexperienced (but nice) staff. It's bad management to leave so new people alone to run a hotel.

It was my first time in Gothenburg and I could not have picked a better hotel. The hotel is located in the center of town, a short walk from the train station and right next to a shopping mall. There are a lot of stores and restaurants within a short walk and there are plenty of taxis, buses available. I was greeted by lovely staff who was very helpful and offered a complementary glass of champagne (strawberry included) which was a nice touch. The room was spacious, clean and very comfortable and the wireless was fast and hassle free. I would definitely stay here in my next trip to Gothenburg
