You can't beat the convenient location across from the central train station. Our plush room faced the interior atrium and was very quiet. The hotel has a pool, sauna, jacuzzi and fitness center. The buffet breakfast was amazing. The only problem we had was at check-in. We couldn't read the hand writing of the lady who checked us in, so we walked around and around our floor for 10 minutes looking for a room number that didn't exist. I don't know how often that happens, but maybe printed labels would be better.

This is a terrific hotel with wonderful staff. Have stayed here twice now and both experiences have been great! Great breakfast, which was included in price and parking available for a small fee. Bar area in the main lobby area is very nice and several shops if you need to get something in a hurry. Central Station is right across the street, which makes this hotel even more convenient. Rooms are spacious and very clean. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting something nice at a reasonable rate.

Having stayed in numerous hotels in Gothenburg and surrounding area my preferred choice is the Radisson Blu. Location - excellent, located opposite the train station and right at the core of the excellent tram network, 5 min walk to two of the largest shopping centres, 5 min walk to The Avenue a popular spot for restaurants. The hotel has a variety of themed rooms; standard rooms the general choice is the 'cool' room along the lines of a sea theme and the 'hot' room with the theme of chilli's. Down to personal preference. If you get the opportunity of an upgrade business class rooms are mainly standard rooms with some complimentary extras,.there are lots of suites available, junior, executive, corner and a royal suite (highly recommended). Breakfast is very good, much better than any of the other hotels (they get through 50 tonnes of bacon per year!!!). The food is a good standard, but the bar only has a limited offering compared to that of the restaurant or room service. The onsite gym is very well equipped, but you might find the pool a little small (don't push off too hard or you'll be at the other end!). Some people find the saunas attached not hot enough, in which case get an upgraded room with it's own sauna! But the best part about the hotel it's very friendly, attentive and courteous staff who I have found will sort out any problems you might have.

Room Tip: The corner suites are 279, 379, 479 (Royal Suite) & 579 (own sauna). 474 (Exec.Suite) has two r...

I enjoyed our 3 days in this hotel. I came to visit my brother, who had just moved here, and he suggested this hotel. It was very easy to get to from the main train station, only about 150m away. The room was the best part, comfortable but a little quirky with great art and modern/retro looking chairs and other furniture. The breakfasts were good, although the coffee machine in the room proved a better choice than the brewed version at breakfast (not that it was easy to get the breakfast coffee, the staff seemed not to offer it and I had to go looking). The hotel is in a really good location for local shops and restaurants. My only complaint was the wi-fi. It was free, but the signal was terrible in our room! I had to sit in the entrance to the room behind the door to get any signal at all. Also had a bar meal which was very nice and good service there too.

Room Tip: Become a member of the Carlson club to get upgrades and other benefits such as free breakfasts.

Not the finished article however comes to close to it. Small issues include the semi-darkness on the ground floor day or night, variation of the Wi-Fi signal (albeit free of charge) depending on where you are located and slight imperfections in the bathroom (this one being a junior suite). Not cheap either- -however one of the best in this City and the staff are polite, willing to help and professional. Not easy to better this overall.

Room Tip: Actually inward facing rooms are not the worst option if you require privacy and quiet. Outward faci...

I've stayed at the hotel couple of times and it’s one of the best in Gothenburg. Despite the ugly exterior it’s really nice inside. Since I’ve stayed in corner suits at each stay I can’t judge the other rooms. The corner suits are ace though. Perfect size, nice interiors, great beds and a wonderful bathroom. Despite facing the street the rooms are very quiet, even at ground level.

On the negative side, the hotel is not that good situated imo. Although close to the central station, it’s probably the worst part of central Gothenburg at night. Also, the relax area is part of a sports club and not part of the hotel.

Room Tip: Go for the corner suits. One's got a big bathtub i the bedroom if you want something a bit more...
