“Excellent stay and nice owner”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

The cottage is spacious and clean. The owner is so nice and helpful. After checking in, he showed us a weather forecast website and told us it would be the best time to see aurora at 2-3am that night coz the sky would be clear at that time. We really could see aurora when we walked to the lake at 2am, though it's already mid-April. Moreover, we didn't buy enough food before arriving there, the owner was so kind that drove us to the supermarket in town and waited for us to finish shopping in the supermarket.

Location on a lake is very pretty. The venue is a short drive from Ivalo town. Our chalet was worn but clean. We had a fireplace with firewood a short walk away. There is a plug for cars in cold weather. The lady on the desk cooked good dinner but expensive at 30 euros each - the next night we drove to a supermarket and cooked ourselves.
It was very empty when we stayed there in early January. Our stay was, however, marred by the people on desk's refusal to rent us cross country skies on the day we were checking out. The man behind the desk said "our contract with you is ending" and the lady said "I'm busy" and turned away. Considering few others seemed to be staying there we couldn't understand why they wouldn't want to make a few bucks extra on ski rental. We moved on from there to Guesthouse Husky which had great equipment and rented us skis on arrival.
Overall this is a fine place if you are an independent traveler and go with your own equipment and food - and definitely have your own car given the remoteness.

Very nice lakeside holiday village. Owners are friendly and welcoming who can also cook good dinner. Excellent place for aurora hunting and fantastic lake view. Sauna by the lakeside is another must try. Prices are reasonable and definitely worth the money. The German Shepherd of the owners is another highlight.

Room Tip: The huts are cozy for two. The chalets are good for group of 4-5.

The location on the banks of Lake Inari in the vast forest is best described as peaceful and serenely beautiful. Furthermore, since you are some 10 km from the next town (Ivalo) the surroundings were very quiet - ideal for getting away from it all. The night sky was breathtaking. Without any nearby lights it was perfect for stargazing or hunting for northern lights.
We booked one of the chalets which turned out to be amazing. The photos online don't do it justice. It was comfortably furnished, the fireplace made it very cozy at night and despite temperatures of -30° outside it never got cold. We provided our own breakfast. As it turned out it was wise to do grocery shopping before heading out to the holiday village because the nearest shop *was* 10 km away. If you are not motorized that is worth keeping in mind.
Finally, what made us feel at home were the owners, Mr. and Mrs Takkinen. Both were very kind and helpful to us. Due to an error within booking.com our chalet had been double-booked. They worked very hard and did their best to make up for and solve a problem that they had not even caused. Be it borrowing equipment or being picked up/dropped off in Ivalo or Inari, we felt very well taken care of. Mrs Takkinen has a wicked sense of humour and is also a great cook. Dinner was consistently delicious and the price was worth it (give it a try!).

Here is a really extremely nice place.
Silent house in fortress with full sky of stars.
The Village is located not near the city center, where there is no light pollution.
We stayed in a house, that is plenty of places for us, which was a traditional decorated and domestic house that you can enjoy!
By the way, when you walked to the lake side, you can enjoy a view of Aurora easily.
The staffs were helpful.
Finally, you could ask the household who can introduce you some kind of activities there which was bravo!
One of tips is that here you can find no troublesome and noisy men from the far-east middle kingdom!(you can imagine how wonderful is it ^_^!)

This holiday village is about ten miles north of Ivalo approximately 2 kms from the main road. It is in a lovely location in the countryside. We booked a chalet through booking.com and it far exceeded our expectations. The chalet had its own drive and was not too close to the neighbouring accommodation - just like a house. We had two bedrooms and our own sauna. It was very spacious. The chalet was very well equipped and nicely furnished. We also had a log fire and as we were there just after Christmas it was very cosy.

Unfortunately we didn't see the Northern Lights but it would have been a good location to see them as it is away from town lighting.

We also went on a husky dog sledging trip at Wildsport(think that is what it is called) which is between Ivalo and Ukonjarvi on the main road (on the same side of the road as Ukonjarvi).

Room Tip: choose a chalet - we stayed in D2 - there is some motel type accommodation nearer reception which di...
