“Very well situated..”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 February 2012

In the heart of Rovaniemi. We were a minute's walk from Lordi's Square which was very handy especially when the temperature plummeted.

The decor seemed dated compared to their other hotels across Finland, almost like it was the 70s. But that's not really a problem at all. Breakfast buffet was the same as most hotels, a nice variety of cereal, yoghurts, breads and meat. Though I would avoid the scrambled egg!

The room itself was bigger than I was expecting, as was the bed. Plenty of pillows and blankets were available, though we couldn't work out the aircon unit! Also, the shiny wood flooring made for plenty of static shocks when wearing your wooly thermals - of course, not a problem for the hotel. TV worked fine, some channels overly grainy but we weren't really watching too much of it anyway. My only qualm with the layout of the room was the fact that there were two lamps directly above the bed on the wall, at a perfect height to hit your head on in-fact if you were making a quick escape to the loo in the middle of the night.

The hotel did provide free internet in rooms, but it was via ethernet cable - which was fine since we brought a netbook but could be problematic for those wanting to bring tablets and smartphones only.

Bathroom seemed a but cramped but was everything that was needed. Mind the step when walking in though, caught me out a few times.

Sauna facility was great. Always at a decent temperature (except when the last person had left the door open), area was very clean and the pool was within easy reach.

In all as a place to stay that has a hot shower, comfy beds and warmth when the temperature outside is reaching about -30C, Cumulus is a great and somewhat more affordable way to stay in the 'capital of lapland'. Very good location, well maintained and most of the staff were very friendly. There were a few who didn't even acknowledge us as we walked past but most were friendly.

Would stay there again.

This hotel is one of the basic hotels of the Cumulus chain. Nothing fancy but very good night sleep despite of poor pillows. Actually one can pick more firm pillow at the reception but I didn't bother to do so. The room temperature was quite high, 24° C. Its bathrooom was good in which you can be sure to be able to enjoy a hot shower. The tv set was an old crt one with slight snowfall. Cleanliness with excellent. As this hotel lies in the middle of the city, your room view consists of roofs of other buildings.

The breakfast in a cozy restaurant was very good, as usually in Finland, although missing bacon and locally baked buns. Reception staff was very friendly and sunny. Amount of free parking places outside is rather limited but the hotel has a chargeable inside garage.

Room Tip: Be sure to check bargains.

Good location - airport bus/taxi stops right outside but you have to wait in the cold. Close to downtown. Breakfast buffet was pretty reasonable. Restaurant food and prices compared well with local speciality restaurants. However, no complimentary tea or coffee was a bit greedy. Staff were helpful but not very clear in giving directions. Free WiFi available. Welcome to wait for several hours in the hotel lounge after check out as our flight was not going till 6pm.

I'm a Travel Agent from Sydney and part of our European Holiday was a Husky Safari in Rovanieni, after much research I booked the Cumulus Hotel in Rovaniemi. It's a nice little hotel in a central position in the town , The rooms are They are a good size , they are clean but basic . all have Satelite TV , WiFi , decent bathrooms with a strong hot shower , just what you need in a Finnish Winter . The hotel as a nice bar/dining room that serves excellent home style cooking , something you mother or grandmother would cook... dinner reminded us of dinner at our Nanna's. Breakfast had a good selection of cereals , freshly baked breads, home made jams and yoghurts. The hotel's location is great ... it's very central and easy to walk everywhere . The staff are excellent.. and made the Rovaniemi experience enjoyable...some had a limited knowledge of English but really tried - even to make a plate of pasts for my son & daughter for dinner , when is wasn't on the menu .The staff are friendly , helpful and make you feel very welcome. I'd certainly stay here again. Rovaniemi is a wonderful town and made our visit to Finland even more enjoyable , the people are so friendly and helpful , they take great pride in their town and love to show it off to any visitor . Our stay made us want to return to Rovaniemi again - and certainly in Winter .

We travel to Rovaniemi one family (2 adults, 37 years old each and one boy 6 years old) to see Santa. I liked the central position of the hotel and the buffet breakfast. The cleaning in the room was not ok. It seems that the people in charge with cleaning were using the vacuum cleaner only for coridors and not for the room. And also, the hotel looks old. The period of time we stay at the hotel was 22.12.2008-27.12.2008. In this time, they never clean the room, only make the beds and change the towels. The linen contain hair (long hair), even if it seems to be clean. The heater in the room was not functioning properly. The lady receptionist offer us an electrical heater and it was OK. All the receptionist were very kind, I liked this. And also a plus: we left the hotel very early in the morning (5 am) and a lady from the travel agency arrange at the reception an early breakfast for us (even if the breakfast begin at 7 or 7:30). I can give only 8 (from 10) points and only for services.

We have just returned from taking our 6 year old son to see Santa with Esprit. We stayed at Hotel Cumulus in Rovaniemi, Lapland.

From the minute we landed to the minute we got back to the UK was total magic. Esprit are a fantastic company to go to Lapland with. The trips they take you on are brilliant. It was worth every penny and we want to go back someday.

We were taken on a skidoo safari, reindeer sleigh ride, husky dog sleding, family meeting to see santa and Elf School. Everything was included in the price and just as described in the brochure.

The Hotel Cumulus is right in the middle of Rovaniemi centre and is a lovely warm traditional hotel with friendly staff, who can all speak English.

I would recommend the trip, the company, the hotel, the location. In fact everything about this holiday was fantastic and we didnt want to come home.

Our son also had a fantastic time as well!!!!
