“Comfort, safe, clean and modern cottage!”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

Was there adjectives enough? Maybe there is a need to add some supelativ as well, like the best, cleanest cottage I´ve ever seen.

This cottage was pleasent suprise. Booking was easy via internet. First expression was very delightful. Rooms were clean and cottage included also traditional electric finnish sauna.

There was also coffee maker and a water kettle with microwave oven. Rooms price included breakfest, television, free wifi, sauna and clean towels.

Santa Claus Holiday Village is located near Rovaniemi-city, so if there is a need to buy some diet foods, it is good to buy them from Rovaniemi. I recommend this place for families with small children and teenagers. but also for couples and single travellers.

Room Tip: Remember that In Finland there are four seasons in a year, so if you make your booking during sum...

OMG, this was a dream trip for my son, who was 5 years old at the time! He could barely speak when he met Santa Claus!
We stayed in a very comfortable cabin, from which we could go sledding right from the door.
My son spent hours sliding down the ice slides. We went into the ice hotel and checked out the rooms and bar. We also rode a husky sled pulled by 10 dogs, as well as a reindeer sled pulled by 1 reindeer.
We went in January, after the tourist peak holiday season, so there weren't any lines to the attractions, which was an added bonus. Great value for the money if going off-season.
Breakfast was very well served.

Room Tip: If you go during Winter and you don't have Winter clothes, as the hotel if they have snow suits...

The village consists of many shops, some restaurants and cafés, Santa's office and post office and a number of cabins that you can rent as accomodtaion. The positive things to mention are the cabins. They are very spacious inside. A huge bed, a sofa, a small kitchenette with a huge fridge, a bathroom with your private sauna and a small terrace. The whole design inside the cabin is in a Santa style with deep red curtains and even a small xmas decoration. Now the negative side: no daily cleaning included in the hotel price, no towels are changed. For two nights this was OK for us but if you stay longer this might get a problem. Outside it does not look that inviting at all. Either the roads and walkways are not meant to look nice or they are still under construction, but it looks terrible. If it's raining it all gets muddy, not one single piece of green around you, except the close woods surrounding the village itself. Breakfast is served in the close restaurant in the main building and was for sure the least enjoyable we experienced on our trip through Scandinavia. Usually you can choose from a variety of fish dishes for breakfast, but not here. No salmon at all and only one fish dish. The atmosphere of the restaurant itself reminds you more about a huge canteen than a nice hotel. As we only stopped by for two nights as our final hotel it was good enough for us and it might be even better in winter time. However, get prepared that this place is always crowded and it has nothing to do with a calm place somewhere deep in the woods of Finland.

We spent 1 week in Santa Claus Holiday Village, Rovaniemi, Finland and absolutely fell in love with the place and the amazing people running it. We went in April so it was not as busy, yet the people were incredible nice and helpful. We had a week packed with activities that are available on site (a must plan financially), Safari to see the Northern Light (and sausage grilling by the fire), snowmobile trip with ice fishing, downhill ski, cross country ski, snowboarding, reindeer sleigh trip, Ranua Arctic Zoo guided trip, Amethyst mine visit (included mining our own stones), sledging in the woods, you name it, we probably did it! Santa came to knock at the window of our accommodation and our daughter was in awe to spend some time with him. The accommodation is lovely, clean, functional and very comfortable. We loved the private sauna, sledges and lovely terrace that come with the room.
A must do!

My husband, brother and I stayed at the santa Claus village for 3 nights just after the Christmas period. I believe it was still magic.
We missed our connecting flight to rovaniemi and we had to wait for the later flight. The reception was picking up us from the airport they were fantastic. They were fine with the change of time and we're there to greet us when we got off the plane in an elf outfit. I thought this was great!
We come from a country with barely a touch of snow so this was so beautiful. Everything looked as it did in photo's. Snow covered trees, roads icy. We were taken to our cabin straight away to settle in since it was after 10pm. We were getting ready for bed and looked out our cabin Window and we saw northern lights. Just beautiful. The cabin is great. We had 3 adults in a cabin and we had plenty of space . A kitchenette a massive bathroom with our own sauna.
We also received half board. We had breakfast and dinner included. Breakfast was a smorgasbord. Dinner a set 3 course meal. This was fantastic. The staff were so friendly. Never had any problems. They were always helpful.
Definitely recommend staying here. Next time I will stay longer. So much to do and explore.

Perfect cabin - high ceilings, beautiful decor, equipped kitchen, microwave, sauna, shower gel, hair dryer, refrigerator, sofa, proper double bed. I only have nice things to say about this place. From the welcome reception, to the breakfast bag we received (we checked out pre-dawn), everything left me happy! Most shops close at 5pm, which is a pity for guests. I thought that maybe it's a strategy to get people to stay more nights. Note that room service is not included in the price...so towels and sheets won't get changed. Unless you pay more, of course.
