The main building is a sympathetically restored large 19thC house, now joined by various modern extensions (a small conference hall, a pool, etc), but all pleasingly low key. The site is by the water and in parkland, so the walk from the train station or airport bus stop is pleasant.

I was given an enormous room which was rather grand, but the beds were (for me) uncomfortably soft. Wifi is free and efficient. Breakfast is plentiful and good quality.

Overall good value, and an agreeable place to say, but has a rather brisk feel to it.

Lasaretti Hotel is a beatiful hotel that used to be a hospital, its located about 700m from the city centre and you can go walking through a beatiful park.
Stuff is very friendly and helpful, there are also bikes available to rent in the hotel. Rooms are clean and spacious. Breakfast is very nice.We booked it 72 eur for one night the day of our arrival and it was really worth it.Hotel has its own private parking area for free.if you are travelling with car also, hotel location is great.
Recommended for all kinds of travellers.

I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. It is simply very good value indeed. It is a short walk from the city center (through lovely park). The room was spotless and well furnished. The breakfast was extensive and very well sourced. The staff were friendly and efficient.

Different, newly renovated and smart hotel in Oulu. This building used to be old military hospital. Not typical hotel, but good place to stay in Oulu.

We were a family of 8 that stayed at the Lasaretti, in 3 rooms for 2 nights. www.lasaretti.com is their website.

My husband and I stayed here before and liked it sooo much we stayed again with our whole family. A family room for 4 was 99 euros and for a room for 2 was 77 euros. I didn't think those rates were bad.

It is 2 separate buildings connected by a covered walkway. Rooms in one building, dining room, lounge, gym, sauna in the other. They advertise allergy free and it is so for us anyway. It is spotless. The rooms have no carpets but nice flooring. They are not fancy but plenty large enough for 2-4 people depending on the room you ask for. There is a refrig in each . There was no problem with hot water and the water pressure was great.

The front desk help are wonderful, friendly, and very helpful. The breakfast, which is included, if your typical Finnish breakfast, plenty of hot and cold food, drinks, good coffee, fruit etc.

Their gym is the best I have seen in any hotel in all of our travels. The pool is terrific and very clean. The sauna, husband said, who is a Finn, said was great!. Their locker rooms were spotless and great.

It is about a 15 minute walk to town. In town there are pay parking lots down by the water. Parking at the hotel is plentiful.
We always walked to town.

Hotel Lasaretti is almost in a park like setting. It backs up to a lake that has fountains, bike and jogging paths, a beach on the opposite shore from the hotel and a Salmon Ladder. It is just lovely. You can do the whole circle from the hotel across the bridge past the lake down by the road and back up along the lake again to the hotel in about 30-40 minutes at a leisurely pace.

We didn't eat in the restaurant as it was expensive. We did have a glassof wine from the bar and drank it in the nice small little lobby. You could also sit at the nice table outside BUT the weather wasn't that nice.

Oulu is a neat little town. Go down by the water and they have all sorts of restaurants, and a little market. The main street is a pedestrain walkway which is very nice. There is also a Stockmans. I love Stockmans. They have a great take out market. We also ate upstairs in the Cafe one time. It wasn't bad and pretty cheap as well. Have your pix taken by the FAT POLICEMAN down by the water.

I can't recommend Hotel Lasaretti enough. I am totally sure that you will will enjoy your stay.
