We were in Oulu over the Easter weekend and were very disappointed to be informed that the restaurant and br in our hotel were both closed. Fortunately we made an excellent discovery in Sokeri-Jussin Kievari where both the atmosphere and the food were very good. The restaurant was very busy but we got bread and drinks almost immediately and our food came very quickly. The menu was reasonably small with a lot of tradional Finnish dishes suited to winter, some from Oulu itself, and I could happily have chosen several of them. The same with the wine menu. My friend asked for help with choosing both her dinner (gluten and lactose free) and wine to complement her meal and the waitress was extremely helpful. The portions were very generous, especially the pork and beef combo.
Another time I would choose a table away from the door as the restaurant was busy and people came in and out constantly so there was a cold draught. I will return again in the summer and look forward to seeing the ssummer menu.
