We arrived on a freezing afternoon of Dec 23rd. The city was preparing for Christmas and there was 30cm of fresh snow everywhere. Having come from the tropics it was all super exotic and lovely. We caught the Finnair bus from the airport to central station and then walked the 8 mins to the hotel. Check in was very easy, the room was compact but lovely and warm and the triple glazing kept out the noise of the very quiet street below. I can't recall the price, but remember thinking it was reasonably priced for what we got. the kitsch fittings on the ground floor did not translate into the rooms, which were very international standard. Good point was the sheets were a happy medium of thick, yet soft. The staff were very nice and the bar/cafe downstairs seemed as good as any we saw in our single night in Helsinki. Breakfast the next morning was excellent and the city on Christmas eve was very quiet and peaceful.
