We arrived at about 1 am after a flight delay from Frankfurt. Eric who was on the night shift was very attentive and helpful getting us settled in for what remained of the night. The room was very clean, spacious and with a nice bathroom. Breakfast was good with a nice variety items, and they allowed us to check out late. My only complaint is that the wifi/internet was pretty slow, but that was not a significant enough issue to detract from an otherwise positive experience!

Room Tip: We were given the choice between a room facing the street with a window, or a quieter room in the ba...

Thank you, Travelbug4712, for taking your time to review us. We are delighted to hear that your stay was such a positive experience!

As we do promise a free high-speed Wi-Fi service to all our guests, we want to apologize for the inconvenience caused to you by an exceptional connection slowdown. If you plan to visit Helsinki again, we hope to get the chance to serve you even better.

Best Western Hotel Carlton Helsinki is located in the heart of the city with lots of excellent restaurants and shopping places next to it. The hotel is rather small in size - that makes it much more interesting than a large stereotyped chain hotel. Each room is unique and they all have a nice view to the city center. In the hotel lobby there are located one really nice restaurant, Iguana, and one good Café called Coffee House. Both are very popular and well known. Traffic connections are excellent: the central railway station, bus transportation to the airport or harbour are right in front of the hotel. Hotel rooms are reasonably priced, the breakfast is fine and the interior is a boutique style with a piece of art deco added. I recommend for adults travelling alone, togerher or in a small group. Would be nice for shopping enthusiasts or for romantic getaway.

Dear Janette H,

Thank you for your super review!
We are quite proud of our concept that combines a high quality Best Western hotel, a popular coffee shop and one of the city’s favourite restaurants. Add our friendly staff to the mix, and you can’t help but feel at home :). With us, you can relax and experience the urban vibe of Helsinki without even having to step out of the door. If you do, you’ll find yourself at one of the busiest and buzziest spots in Helsinki; close to everything.

We are glad you enjoyed staying with us. Be back anytime!

the most important advantage is a great location of the hotel. the room was spacious and clean. it is nice that breakfest was included in a price and there was so much choice, including local specialities. the drawback is there is no lift, so you have to carry your lugguage by the stairs by your own. the window in our room was at backyard, so in the evening it was sometimes loudly. staff was nice and friendly.

Dear mbusz,

Thank you for taking your time to review us here on TripAdvisor! We are glad that you liked the location, your room and the breakfast. We are also pleased to hear that you regarded our staff as nice and friendly. One of our ambitions is to make all our customers feel warmly welcome as soon as they arrive. Therefore, if your visit began with having to carry heavy luggage upstairs, it is clear that in this rare case we have failed at meeting our own standards. I hope we will get the chance to make it up to you.

Hoping to see you again as our customer,

We stayed here for one night on 5th September, 2013, ROOM # 203. Our double room was quite large - there was a wardrobe, empty bar (fridge), big table for work, small table in front of the sofa, plasma TV. The bath was clean and spacious. The breakfast is excellent - schrimps, different types of fish, cottage cheese, sausages, porridge, etc. Everything was tasty! In the common hall you will find copy-machine and laptop with internet access for free. Location is great, very close to railway station and metro-station (0,5 min)!

The disadvantages:
- In this room the windows are done of vague glass, so you can't see the sunshine. In the night there is a light from neon sign board, so you have to close them by the curtains;
- I didn't see any elevator there, so you should know in advance if they can help you to lift you heavy luggage upstairs;
- lying in the bed, you can feel some kind of light viabration from tram, but this is not critical for those who has a sound sleeping in the night!

Dear Svetlana M,

Thank you for reviewing us on TripAdvisor, and a special thank you for your compliments on the breakfast. Our staff members are always happy to hear such positive comments.

I hope and assume that you were offered help with your luggage - without having to ask. Naturally, it is our duty to take it upstairs. We have an out-of-sight elevator that the personnel can use to move extra heavy items. However, the stairs usually serve as the fastest way between the floors.

We are glad that you liked our central location and just about everything being very close by. It is true that the trams passing by (and even the metro 30 meters below us) can cause light vibration in the building. We like to think it’s the heartbeat of Helsinki :) Thank you for staying with us. We hope to see you again soon!

Best Regards,

Great location, but street facing rooms get traffic and tram noise (as expected). Rooms are warm in summer and this is not helped by keeping the windows closed to eliminate road noise. Breakfast is comprehensive and filling. The room(s) are nice and clean and the bathroom is spotless. The flat shower floor (not in a bath tub) is a welcome change from other hotels where you stand in a bath to take a shower. No sauna ( sadly ).

Dear CyclistSydney,

Thank you for your helpful review. Some of our guests appreciate the peace and quiet of the backyard facing rooms, whereas others prefer the lively urban feel of the street facing rooms. Next time when you plan to stay with us, please feel free to request a room of your liking.

During the very hottest summer days some of the rooms might indeed feel slightly too warm, despite the built-in cooling system. If not provided automatically, portable fans are available upon request at our reception.

We are happy to hear that overall your stay was a positive experience. You are mostly welcome back anytime!

Kind Regards,

Stayed in this hotel in a single room for 4 nights during our trip to Helsinki in July/August. Location is very central; tramstation and metrostation in front of the door, train and bus (and more tram) stations within 10 minutes walk. Also near multiple restaurants and shoppingarea located. Also multiple sightseeing locations (like Senate Square) are in walking distance.
The room was big enough for a singel person, with the usual desk, tv and nice bathroom. Bed was a big single bed, not to hard or to soft, just perfect. Free coffee and tea facillities central located on the floor. Free wifi in the room was good. The rooms are located on the second floor but there is no elevator. But upon, very sufficient and friendly, checkin we were immediatly asked if we need assistance with our bags.
The complimentary breakfast (with several hot items) was sufficient. There is also a coffee-bar and bar/(mexican)restaurant on site.

Best Western Carlton Helsinki is located in the middle of buzzing the restaurant quarters of the city. A good choice for travelers who won't spend time at the hotel but want to explore the city. In walking distance from museums, restaurants, main shopping streets and theaters. Small and compact, nothing missing, nothing extra. The room (facing the backyard, no view whatsoever) was amazingly quiet considering that the address is by one of the busiest streets of the city.

Room Tip: I would choose on facing the backyard as Kaisaniemi street is very busy with bus and tram traffic.
