“Pleasant spot for a stroll”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2014 via mobile

This place is in a nice parkland setting where lots of traditional Finnish buildings have been relocated. It gives an interesting insight into traditional Finnish lifestyle. some lovely wooden buildings. Staff are on hand to answer questions and very knowledgeable. Dotted amongst the buildings are various cafés. All staff were fantastic, extremely friendly and going the Extra mile to improve the visitor experience. There is also a bathing place and picnic spots.

“Wonderful afternoon”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2014

On a very hot day we took the bus, No 24, out here and wandered around under the trees with lovely breezes smelling of the sea.

We visited nearly everything and chatted with the guides in the open building

The buses are every 20 minutes and operate exacly to time.
A lovely afternoon.

“Walking back to the old days”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2014

Quite a variety of wooden sructures from all over Finland ( some of them dating back to the 17th century) has been carefully collected since the beginning of the 20th century and preserved. Several ones are quite extraordinary, for example, a store on a long pole which looks like a fairy-tale magic place . The girl-keepers at the houses open to public wear period costumes.Even their security radios are in small baskets)). The old church is very impressive.
You can reach the place by tram 4 (ask the driver where to get off) and walk for another fifteen-twenty minutes or by bus 24 which stops right at the entrance. We didn't visit their cafe, but enjoyed our snack in the forest with a couple of wild strawberries for dessert!

“See how the Finns used to live”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2014

Serene, tranquil, this island contains a "folk village" that shows how the Finns used to live. I really enjoyed strolling through.

“Spend some time here”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2014

We wish we could have stayed for lunch but ran out of time. It's an interesting way to get some history of the region. Tip: get the commuter ferry over and not one of the tourist boats - you will save around 10 euros :-)
