“Excellent in relation to what you pay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 October 2013

Let me give you some perspective. I have been to several restaurants from Farang, East in Stockholm, NOBU in Las Vegas, Sushi places in Tokyo etc. so take it as an attempt to provide some unbiased view on good vs. price. We booked a birth day dinner here with my family. It is a small restaurant with 5 tables and some seats at a window bar. The interior is quite basic. The menu consists of around 6-7 starters and same amount of mains. The drinks menu is a tight selection of wine and beer but good quality/price ratio. For starters we had 4 different things Edamame (soy beans), Deep fired Snow crab balls, Fish tartar, Beef Tataki salad. All, in all solid, the fish tartar comes close to high quality restaurants like NOBU in terms of taste and quality. For mains the kids had the corn fried chicken Katsu with potato salad. Adults had the Crispy Pork belly and the Bi Bim Bap. The pork and Bi Bim Bap were really good. The fried chicken did not really taste like anything asian and the Potato salad was pretty bland. For dessert we had the Fudge Brownie and Kahlua Ice cream which was really good as well as the Guava Cheese cake. All in all, it was not Michelin quality but nor was the price. It was really affordable for the price you pay. The food was great and the service was friendly. It took a while to to get the food but it was made a la minute and you could taste it. We paid 155 euros for 2 kids and 2 adults with wine and 3 courses so you could say it was quite a good value for being downtown Helsinki. Also, during our 2 hours in the establishment we saw 5 asian persons coming in for food so it should be some kind of proof that it is quite authentic.

“Exceptional freshness”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 October 2013 via mobile

Went here for lunch with two business associates. They don't take tablereservations during lunchtime so it's highly recommendable to arrive early or be prepared to wait. We tried two of the lunch salads and three of the main courses accompanied with a well chosen whitevine. All the dishes were excellent, prepared with well chosen and utterly fresh ingredients. The hawaian-japanese combinations of flavours were fantastic and I can't wait to get to try their evening menu next time.
No wonder this place is no. 2 in the Helsinki restaurant scene. Highly recommendable for any occassion.

Had a fantastic meal here, tried the neck of beef and it was delicious. Great wine recommendation and friendly service.

“good food in a small room”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 October 2013

We booked a table here because of the great reviews at TA. First of all, the restaurant is really small, which has a impact on the atmosphere. We were seated in the middle of the room. It was a bit noisy to sit there when the surrounding tables were occupied with guests. On the other hand we were very pleased with the food. We had seafood for starters and main course and both were very good. Overall, I was left with the feeling that the place is a bit overhyped though.

“High-quality offerings at an affordable price!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 September 2013

I ate here twice in as many days and was blown away both times. The braised pork belly and the salmon were spot on. I am a potato salad snob and their version was one of the best I've ever had. Only wish I was longer in Helsinki to enjoy some of their other offerings. Service is solid, although it was a bit slow and inattentive late in the evening the second day I was there. Very few tables so make a reservation or get take-away.
