Review of Signora Delizia

Signora Delizia
Ranked #8 of 24 Dessert in Helsinki
Description: We are a delicacy shop focusing into italian high quality food which we import ourselves. We also have coffees, teas and hot chocolates as well as juices and smoothies to enjoy on the spot or take away. As well fresh sandwiches, croissants and other bakery products are served every day. On Saturdays fresh bread from local bakery. Summer time we have a kiosk located at Tove Jansson park opposite side of the Satamakatu street. There you can have all the same cafeteria products but also italian style ice cream, lunch salads, beers and ciders, moomin souvenirs etc etc. Signora Delizia also arrange little concerts time to time. About them we inform you in our facebook page. We work also as an art gallery.

Super tiny and cute - fantastic coffee - lovely staff :) Possibly the nicest ciabatta I've ever had!

Yeah yeah. Don't get me wrong. I get it. I do. Just beacuse I was constantly missbehaving doesn't mean I don't get it.
This is a great place, he is a great guy and there are some very interesting people coming here regularly. And sometimes some very angry women. But that was not my fault.

The capo works hard at getting a good mixture of the right products to fill the high shelves that cover all the necesseties of the basic italian cooking and coffee tradition .

The atmosphere is very cozy. Comforting. Very nice places for sitting comfortably, chatting but space can soon become an issue. Be cutrious, come at a reasonable time,
and/or "sit tight".

By the way, don't be scared but it is a cutsom for the patron to give the gentleman of a entering couple a kiss on the lips as is old italian tradition when....
just kidding,

The owner is a very interesting, intelligent, friendly, well-mannered and but also, thankfully, endearlingly mischievously, misbehaving person who doesn't like you to say one wrong thing....just kidding.
As he works really hard for a living and as a southerner has to cope with climatary conditions very alien to his upbringing he should be constantly forgiven. Everything.
Even the murder of you.

(Actually I believe that all southerners living and working in Finnland should get a customary medal of honor and 80% tax cut for living under such difficult circumstances. I met a mexican man who has been in Hamburg for some time now and who fled from Oslo after not even a year and still hasnt gotten over the aftermath of his depressions. But I wander off...)

Wonderful man.

But in case you are planing on bothering someone or leaving some other mark of distinction, just don't.
He does not like it and will make you pay.

BUT, if you ARE looking for good products, original friendly atmosphere, coffee above the average, come here, THIS IS IT!(as björk would scream) Bring your friends, have them bring their friends, sit, eat, drink, buy, cry, spend money, laugh, scream, whisper, pay, brawl, pay again and be merry. No credit cards, just cash. Right?

regards.

ps: I still owe you a book.

We had coffee, hot chocolate, focaccia with parma ham and salad, sat in a small table with charming decor and music, had a friendly chat with the owner and bought a box of biscotti to go along. What a pleasant start for the day! Cozy, intimate friendly place. I think it suits perfectly with the architecture of Katajanokka, bringing some alternatives to the modern faceless cafes around the city.

A must try if you are in Helsinki. Unusual and limited seating arrangement as it's like being in sat in someones lounge, however, the coffee is excellent and the staff very friendly. The lady that was serving at the time spoke perfect English and was very informative about Helsinki and it's history. If you are trying to visit Helsinki on a budget the prices here are extremely cheap yet value for money compared to the rest of the city. The cafe also has various Italian products for sale.

Great little cafe / grocery shop run by Italians.

The ice creams and espressos were delicious, and the interior makes this place very special and cozy.

Beware, they don't have a bathroom!
