Silja Line used to be known as a good brand. Cruises were little bit more expensive than in Viking Line, but feeling more luxurious, food better, ferries nicer and service attitude really good. Now it is all gone.
After the merge of Tallink and Silja it has really been a big downhill experience for a customer. I did my last Tallink-Silja cruise from Helsinki to Stockholm and back in April. Next time I will choose Viking Line.
The reasons why I cannot recommend Silja Serenade to anyone are
- customer service is very poor, the crew is too few and therefore stretched to its limits and unfortunately it shows
- food is good-for-nothing and expensive
- don't try the breakfast buffet, the food was basically inedible. We were also distressed there by a super drunk and threatening couple but the staff did nothing.
I really hope the management does something in order to improve the customer experience.
