Helsinki is starved for new, innovative and trendy restaurants and this place hits just the right spot. Great food without all the pomp of other upmarket places.
Ive been twice so far and its easily become my favorite new restaurant in Helsinki, hidden away on a quiet street away from the main tourist haunts. I dont normally write reviews, but i couldn't bare to see a place like this without a single review!
At Lusikka you will find fine dining quality food, ingredients and presentation for half the price you would expect to pay in most other establishments in Helsinki - Served in a casual, young and relaxed atmosphere. You wont eat fine dining food while the background music plays "Queen" anywhere else in Finland...
Service is foreigner friendly and the chefs interact with the customers and explain the dishes as they arrive. They are very knowledgeable and happy to talk with you about the food, the wine or the weather.
Downsides? Its very small, seating about 20 or so, so try to book ahead. Its not what i would call cramped, but its far from intimate/private. Also, while its a fantastic place for a date, its not really the best place to bring children.
I will go again and you should too.
