Hotel Glo is in an excellent position in the heart of Helsinki with the harbour and train station no more than a 10 minute walk away.

The hotel lobby is clean and modern and the reception staff friendly and excellent English speakers. The deluxe rooms are very spacious, cool and modern with lots of dark wood flooring and Scandanavian style. The bathrooms are spacious and well-equipped.

The rooms are also fully equipped with safe, kettle, minibar, ironing board, flat screen tv and free wireless internet.

The spa on the eigth floor is very relaxing and the gym is very well-equipped.

A couple of asides about Helsinki: 1) It's a very expensive city, although that is balanced by its' cleanliness and relaxed feel 2) don't go during the midsummer holiday - pretty much everything (including restaurants and bars) is shut.

I have to travel a lot with work and therefore get to see my fair share of city hotels. Hotel Glo is probably the best I've ever stayed in. Fantastic room, great service, FREE internet (though there is no excuse for not having this, in this day and age) and a great range of freebie rentals - hot-pillow, back-massager, games console, even an acoustic guitar!!
The location is great and when you add the nice spa and bar, it can't be beaten.
My only two down points is that the buffet at breakfast was a bit rubbish (but then it was FREE!) and the bed was a bit soft (but that's personal taste).

We can not add much to the wonderful accolades for this hotel. We had a surprise on arrival as they upgraded us to a suite that was like a small apartment. This hotel has it all and the staff made it all the more accomodating. The lobby is terrific with its modern design, comfortable sitting areas (all non-smoking), and free internet. The breakfast on the second floor has everything you can imagine and the view of the city and cable car is great. The location is so perfect to roam the pedestrian area of Helsinki especially wonderful during the White Nights.

We stayed at Glo for 1 night during a layover. It was a lovely experience, with competent and motivated desk staff, a clean and efficiently organized modern room, a nice big window, and nice "extras", such as anti-slip slippers and bathrobes. WiFi and a gorgeous breakfast buffet were included.
You can even choose your pillow and mattress pad from a "sleep menu"
The only strange thing is the bathroom: There are no walls, and it is bordered by sliding glass doors. That's right: no accoustic barrier, and you can even peek in through a gap between the sliding doors. Very strange. If you can live with this inconvenience, I cannot imagine a more pleasant hotel experience. I'll be back next time I'm in Helsinki.

I really liked Glow the only complaint I can make is about the breakfast there seemed to be no floor staff around to reset tables fast and everything the customer had to do like make tea/coffee etc so you had to make a few trips back and forward to the table the time you got what you wanted!! 4 star service not, not even one star!! There was a small selection of hot food too, like mixed sausagesand bacon and boiled eggs.

But apart from that the hotel you cant fault I loved my modern room and bathroom and great location, also great white chocs in fazer opposite! Take lots of money with you as Finland is very expensive.

We were directed here after another sought hotel was full. What a pleasant surpirse! Modern, stylish, crisp Finnish lines and finishes, large functional rooms, and extremely comfortable beds. The hotel seems to be the hip sister of the Palace Kamp, the grande dame of Helsinki hotels just next door. It is well located near the Esplanade and three blocks from the train station, easy walking distance to central attractions. The price was about $248 US for two people. Day use of the fitness center, turkish bath and sauna is included. One downside: the eggs at breakfast were terrible, and the little pizza restaurant on the second floor (breakfast is there) is not bery good. Much other good food is close by--a cholcolatier cafe across the street and the Palace Kamp Brasserie on the corner, Indian take-away a block away. The casino is a few blocks away.
