Description: Authentic flavours, wanton passion, wild herbs, crazy ideas, love for artisan produce and the skill to make incredibly tasty food. This is what Juuri is made of. We want you to enjoy being our guest and to leave in good spirits. Our recipe is simple: we do things right in the kitchen, we respect the raw materials, we want to exceed expectations and we delight in our own work. The result is food rooted in enjoyment. Many people today are discussing small producers and organic food. What could be better since at Juuri we have put them in a central position for nearly ten years. We favour the small and local for several reasons, and taste is certainly not the least of them. We have a rule of four P's for our raw ingredients: Perfect Produce from Preferred Producers. When products are transported from close by they arrive at the table in fresh condition. It is a joy to favour small and local.

Cosy restaurant, friendly and knowledgable staff, exquisite food (both tapas and mains) and a great selection of wines. Thoroughly recommended. We were too full to have dessert so can't comment :)

This restaurant was recommended by a friends who lives in Helsinki, and her suggestion really paid off. It offers 'sapas' -- suomi tapas -- along with larger dishes, with most ingredients produced locally and organically. They are all put together in this relatively small restaurant to offer a great taste of Finland, with modern twists on ancient staples. The menu changes roughly every 6 weeks, reflecting seasonal produce. After a delightful crayfish-based amuse bouche, and a very refreshing cocktail based on sea buckthorn berries, my friend and I ordered everything on the sapas menu... and this was a good amount overall. Highlights for me were the reindeer heart, the little blood and grain (groat?) sausages, and the vendace roe. I went back for more buckthorn berries in a cheesecake dessert, accompanied by fine short espresso. Service was friendly and helpful, and yet informal and not over-keen. The delightful waitress also pointed us at the wine bar, owned by the same people that own Juuri, a few doors along the street. This made a great place to decamp to when the restaurant closed. We didn't want to leave! I'd recommend this for anyone visiting the city, and I'd also suggest mailing them in advance to reserve a table (via their web site). Worth it.

Recently visited here for dinner and enjoyed the set menu for 47euro each which included 6 sapas between 4 of us, a fish main and a desert each.

Food is good, yes, smaller portions but great quality. Service was friendly but a bit on the slow side.

Would be a nice place to eat for a special meal with a loved one.

Going to restaurant Juuri is the best way to sample the best finnish food ingredients through their famous Sapas (suomalainen tapas = finnish tapas). There's a wide variety of these sapas (13 on the list as we write) ranging from smoke lavaret to elk sausage, from smoke reindeer heart (yes!) to vendace roe. Each one cooked with herbs, wild berries and seasonal veggies. The flavors you get from these small portioned goodies are just fantastic. it's an explosion of tastes in your mouth that brings the "waoooow" factor. It is that good! As this was our 2nd visit, we decided to have an all Sapas dinner (with a chilled bottle of Chablis 1er cru), followed by a selection of finnish cheeses (from local producers), a baked apple with chocolate cream and cloudberries, and finally some petits fours with glasses of vintage port and Monbazillac (french dessert wine). We paid 179€, which sounds a lot of money. But for this level of quality, it is not. The whole Finland in 13 plates? Look no further, it's Juuri!

Don't come to this place if you are hungry. Seriously. I did not expect a large hamburger with large fries, but our bill was around 130€ for 3 (no bottles or hard liquor) and our stomachs are empty.
It is good if you want to try different tastes of Finnish cuisine (at 4.60€ per bite).
The goose on the main dishes is excellent but still extremely small portion (for a human).
Service is perfect. Personnel speak excellent English and are polite and friendly.
