“Good restaurant gone bad!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 March 2012

For yrs it used to be THE place for tapas in Helsinki. Now they given in and sold their souls to greedyness. So shame, portions are really small with no wow effect anymore. Patatas bravas... can't even say. With 7€ you get three small prawns etc. etc. So sad. I will miss Tapasta much. R.I.P.

“Used to be good - but lately has been a disappointment”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 December 2010

First time we were there it was the best experience in a while. Great food, great wine, great atmosphere, great service. It was so good we went back after few months. All was the same except food was not as tasty. Seamed like they changed the chef. Third time we went back after half a year. Portions got a lot smaller. Last time we got full with 2 tapas each but this time with 1 less we did not get full at all. Went back to grab something small before going to other restaurant and the patatas bravas were not even cooked properly. They were nice on the outside but really hard in the inside. Has to send them back. But they were nice and did not charge anything and apologized. But i wouldn't say service is all that great. We noted that we were there for birthday when reserved and they did not care at all. Also when i wrote that we were not satisfied they did not react at all. Wine and sangria is always superb though! so this has been my experience.

NOTE: place is very small. i mean really small. like 18 people small. but super cozy.

“Spanish Tapas in Hip Helsinki Neighborhood”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 October 2010

Anyone who loves Spanish tapas will like Bar Tapasta. As a vegetarian, I found this restaurant to be a refreshing break from Finnish food (sorry! I know others love reindeer). Our advice - order at least 6 or 7 tapas for two people (we only did 5 and it wasn't enough) and SKIP the Sangria - it was terrible.

“My favourite place to eat in Helsinki”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 October 2010

Tapasta has the greatest atmosphere. It's so cozy - something that can be hard to find in Helsinki where a lot of restaurants look like the inside of a dentist's office. I eat here quite a lot - sometimes early in the evenings, sometimes after seing a movie or the like. The only problem is that tables should be booked early in advance - something that is easily done via Tapasta's homepage - since the place is so small (takes 30 guests tops) and popular. However, there are two tables reserved for "drop in customers", so you can always try your luck - usually you can get seats after a short wait. It is also possible to eat at the bar.

As I mentioned I eat here quite often and the quality of the food has always been great. I especially recommend the bruschettas, the salmon & asparagus, the patatas aioli & bravas and the lamb chops. And of course the crema catalana, yum! When dining late in the evening (around 10pm or so), some of the tapas (like the wonderful tortilla) can unfortunately be sold out.

Tapasta's sister restaurant Kipinä at Kaisaniemi is larger, but the atmosphere is not as welcoming and the service not as good.
