“Good food, reasonable prices”
Reviewed 17 November 2013

Restaurant Tillikka is a trustworthy choice if you don't want anything fancy. We had the classics "Baltic herring" and "Chicken sandwich". Both were excellent and very reasonably priced. The service was fine in the beginning but when we stopped ordering the waitress turned indifferent towards us. It's a good idea to book a table at least during the weekend as there seems to be a lot of large groups eating in the evening. Ask for a table in the back of the restaurant (and by the window) as the main room is quite noisy due to bad acoustics.

“Nice little restaurant with a bit of a view, but definitely over priced.”
Reviewed 2 September 2013

It was a battle trying to find a restaurant to suit three lovely ladies dressed for a night at the theatre! Wearing our best gear we really did struggle to find somewhere decent to dine in central Tampere before the show. Tillikka looked lovely and we fitted right in, so we stayed for a couple of drinks and the food. Tried everything from the éntrees to the desserts, and though the food was OK, it was a bit of a let down. You'd think with pretty upscale prices you'd get something more than decent.. nah, it was just mediocre. The staff was lovely but whipping up a drink seemed to be overwhelming (they didn't have Frangelico, they didn't know how to make a Pina Colada and did not even have a drink list...).
They also allowed a heavily intoxicated, shabby man to enter and dine (!!) who then announced he had no money to pay so they had to get a guard to come and take him to the police station. Deary me.
But the staff was nice and I'm sure they did their best. The restaurant itself was nice enough and the food was passable - but we definitely paid way too much for the experience.
Would not go again unless they had a deal of somesort.

“Old school classics”
Reviewed 1 July 2013

Place where musicians, politics and university people use to see each others eat "pyttipannu" and beer and of course had great political fights.
Food is average, Chikenbread is classic as is Pyttipannu. Fish is good and portions are rather good side. Once i did not like babylamb wallenberg. Thats my problem.

View out from window is enjoyable.

“Traditional restaurant with a great view (if given a table next to window)”
Reviewed 11 February 2013

A restaurant with a great location next to Tammerkoski river and the restaurant hall itself is quite nice. The food is ok, nothing special, but if you want to have a traditional dish, try "pyttipannu", a dish made of small pieces of ham, sausage and potatoes, covered with egg.

The restaurant has its' place in the local cultural history as it was one of the local meeting places of actors, musicians and university folk in the 70's. The days of glory of Tillikka may be past but still there's something special in this restaurant.

“Traditional fare in Tampere city center”
Reviewed 22 October 2012

You cannot get a better window seat in a traditional restaurant in Tampere (all right - Rosso is exactly on the opposite side of the Tammerkoski rapids, but Rosso is a chain pizzeria). The menu is pretty basic, but it covers the essential flavours of Finnish kitchen. - My main recommendation is to go there for the ambiance. Back part of the hall is for lunch and dinner guests, front part is dedicated to drinking guests. Have a look also downstairs - there is another pub world with the same scenery.
