I stayed at Sokos Hotel Villa for one night with my fiancé and two-year-old son. I absolutely fell in love with the modern Scandinavian design of the hotel. The room was very clean and smelled nice and fresh. However, it was quite small considering we had a stroller and quite a lot of luggage. All in all, I would definitely stay at this hotel again! It was one of the nicest ones I have ever been to.

Dear Julifrim,

thank you for your kind review.

Wonderful to hear that you fell in love our interior. Villa's interior decoration solutions are world-class, which was also recognized with a high position in the international Interior Design Awards 2011 competition. Hotel is full of lovely details. Moreover, as the word “villa” stands for “wool” in Finnish; wool is exclusively used in the hotel textiles. For example the hotel room walls are decorated with endearing lamb pictures.

We warmly wish you and your family sunny summer days, and welcome visit us again near in the future!

Best wishes,

I was part of a large meeting being held at Tampere Hall, a 2-3 minute walk from the hotel (and 3-4 minutes from the University). I was traveling by myself and spent four nights in the hotel. This is a minimalistic hotel, but it has everything you need for a comfortable trip. The room had painted white bricks on one two walls and natural red clay brinks on the far wall, with a large picture of a lamb adorning one of the walls. There was a sitting bench near the window, which looked onto a plain building. The shade was useful because the sun never really sets in June. There were two twin beds pushed together, but they were very comfortable. The shower and bathroom are minimalistic as well but highly functional. There was no closet but hangers on a hanging bar near the entrance way. The front desk was very polite and helpful and the hotel was fairly quiet.

I would stay here again.

I spent three nights at this hotel with 2 teenagers. We had a corner room in the attic, it was spacious and originally laid out, a bit minimalistic but very calm. There were two twin beds and two extra beds, the room was a bit crammed with all the beds spread out. The only minus was the lack of storage space, no wardrobe to hang up your clothes, only a rail with few hangers.
The bathroom was stylish and functional, enough storage space for all the toiletries. A bit pricey for a standard room.

The personnel at the reception was professional and accommodating, taking the time to give information about the hotel and the surroundings. The breakfast was very basic and lacking for instance a variety of fresh fruit. A four star hotel should have a more substantial selection of food. But I heard it was a temporary arrangement as the regular breakfast area was under renovation, so there will be improvement I suppose.
All in all a nice experience, can recommend this hotel.

Dear Flutterby710,

Thank you for your feedback. All feedback is more valuable than gold, when we think about what improvement in our services are.

We are glad to hear that the hotel room was calm and responded to your needs, even though there is no wardrobe in the room. In our rooms is a set of drawers where clothes can be preserved, although it is not roomy like the wardrobe. Good to hear that the bathroom decor was a pleasure to the eye.
We are sorry that the breakfast did not meet the needs. Unfortunately our traditional breakfast room is under renovation during the summer time, so we were forced to move the breakfast to another restaurant for the summer time. This is an unfortunate situation, and we are sorry for all the inconvenience this caused. But, fortunately, the situation will change in the fall, and our customers can enjoy the new breakfast in fresh areas. I’ll pass your feedback to the breakfast staff so that they are informed and are able to contribute to improving their service and selection.

Nice that you enjoyed your stay in its entirety and warmly welcome again!

Have a sunny summer time!

The hotel is not luxorius, but to my purposes the location was excellent and the room was quiet and good enough. Only the toilet's washbasin is quite extraordinary. This was my second visit in this hotel and I'll be glad to come back some day.

After arriving at the train station in Tampere, only a few minutes walk are required to reach Sokos Hotel Villa. From the outside (and from the inside) it is immediately clear: This is no villa. Actually, this is an old warehouse, transformed into a business hotel. No strings attached. Clean, efficient, straightforward. No mess. Friendly and professional staff, decent buffet breakfast - but not much else. For a few nights this is a good choice, well located and modern. But why does Sokos not provide a kettle and tea/coffee in the rooms? Why are rooms in the 6th floor so cramped? Why do all sorts of bread at breakfast taste the same? Maybe it is the business philosophy of Sokos that guest have to adapt to Sokos, not the other way round.

Room Tip: Room Tip: Ask for a room NOT in the 6th floor

Dear Jrondelle,

thank you for your review!

Word “Villa” has two meanings, depending on the language in which it viewed; in Finnish it means “wool” and in English it is villa. So I understand that it may cause confusion. The hotel is built into an old granary and ecology is readily seen in the use of sustainable natural materials, as wool. That’s why the name Villa (wool).

Unfortunately in our basic rooms we have no coffee making facilities, kettle and coffee/tea are found in our superior rooms and suites.

And considering the size of the rooms on the 6th floor, the hotel is a listed building, and all the rooms are different sized and shaped. And on the attic floor there is also a sloping roof, which contributes to reduce the size of the room. The next time do not hesitate to request a room on the different floor.

I'm sorry that breakfast did not meet the level of expectations; I’ll pass the feedback considering the taste of the bread to the breakfast staff. Breakfast will renew the future.

Have a great and sunny springtime, and we hope to see you as our guest near in the future. Warmly welcome!

The rooms are not too big but they are just throughout renovated and quit. Lobby and rooms are clean and staff friendly.

The only minus was breakfast that from an other planet than the hotel itself. It was served on a nearby outdated restaurant school. The selection was wide but made with a very low budget and/ or lacking imagination.

Stayed here one night. This was my second time and now the hotel was renovated. I really enjoyed my stay. Staff were polite, the room was very clean and nicely decorated.

Only couple things disturbed me a little bit. The window of my room was very very small. I stayed in 5th floor. Please check that you have a better view that I did. The breakfast was ok, with Finnish rye bread and such. And it was available till 10.30 on Sunday. One minus: orange juice was more like water.

Villa is very near the railway station, and the price is not bad. I will come here again.

Dear Jiitee,

Thank you for your kind review! Good to hear that your visit was great, and you enjoyed it!

Our hotel is an old granary, all the rooms are different shaped and sized; also the size of the windows is variable. On the highest floors the roof is oblique and low and the windows are small and triangle shaped. We also have rooms with a bigger window on the lower floors. Next time you’ll come; do not hesitate to ask a room with a bigger window.

Have a great and sunny springtime, and welcome again!
