I Spend couple of nights in Scandic Julia at end of June. Parking was easy and affordable priced. Location in city center of Turku is great and many good restaurants within 3 minutes walk. We were part of soccer team and everything worked very well for group as well. Practical and clean rooms with very confortable beds. Breakfast offered wide variety of food. Front desk was very helpfull in all questions.

Room Tip: Superior extra room is very spacious and worth of money

Great location, easy to access with a car or by foot. Got our car on the street beside hotel, and during nighttime did no have to pay for parking. River with it's beautiful sights and walkways, walking bridges is right around the corner. Many nice shops here around this hotel. Stayed here with two children. Sofa to sleep for them together was just enough big for a 4 and 9 year old. Bed was ok, room pretty tidy and silent. During breakfast time in July middle of the week it was very crowded and food was usual as it is in many average finnish hotel restaurants, not that fresh as it could be. Service was fast at the front desk. Well worth the money, not anything special, but ok. Nothing much to complain. Many great attractions close by, and for example easy access to boats to Sweden and Moominland about 10 kilometers away.

We had booked the other Scandic in town but switched to the Julia because it had air conditioning - very important during the very warm weather. We were able to get a rate which made the 15 Euros parking fee a wash. That parking fee is the only thing we did not like about the hotel. (I did have to go into the hotel to find out where and how to park. The sign on the street was not really helpful.)

Check in was efficient and friendly. Our room was spacious, cool and comfortable, with excellent lighting and plenty of outlets. The WiFi worked well as did the the television. The bathroom was well equipped and roomy.

It was a very busy weekend and there were lots of children around. They all went for handshakes and hugs from the mascot, Sigge, who was around both during breakfast and dinner. There was a playroom near the restaurant and a special selection of food so that both parents and children could enjoy meal time. Breakfast had quite a comprehensive selection which was both tasty and abundant. We ate dinner in the restaurant and the buffet was a very good value, especially with our Scandic Friends membership that gave us a 20% discount.

I hope I don't seem too picky but this hotel was not what I expected after having read TA reviews. As a family with two children aged 9 and 11 we chose Scandic Julia for a one night stay in Turku.

The hotel is centrally located. The reception area and the restaurant are situated under the parking hall with no daylight. The restaurant menu or the ambience don't really tempt one to dine in the hotel.

However, we did have breakfast, but the area was very crowded and many dishes were finished at 9. Nobody seemed to be intrested to refill them. There was lady collecting empty plates and glasses to a metallic catering trolley. Was that really necessary? I have had several and several more pleasant breakfast expierences in Finland.

Our room was nice and clean but the view was to a sad and dirty parking lot. We kept the curtains closed.

The is another Scanic hotel in Turku called Scandic Plaza. I have stayed there and strongly advice you to choose it over Julia. Both hotels are in the same price range.

I was alone at the Julia Scandic Hotel to participate to a conference in Turku. The hotel is very centrally located easy to access. The lobby gives the impression that the hotel is not so good and they have a lack with the staff at the reception. Most of the time there is only one employee at the reception desk with a tag: "New in the job" so you have to wait sometimes a lot to get to the info you need. but the rooms are really excellent and very very well equipped for all you can need traveling. Wifi is operating very well every where. Bed are comfortable, plugs are everywhere in the room if needed for electronic devices, light is greatly adaptable to your needs, safe is easy to use... Breakfast is great and very rich but the menu for the dinner restaurant is poor. But you can go around easily to a lot of restaurant around the city center and the river. I really recommend this hotel. Enjoy your stay!

Stayed here foor a couple of nights in september 2012 and earlier in may same year.
The hotel has been rebuild and is really nice indeed. Locally placed and nice prices. Nearby basically anything you would like to see in Åbo.

Room Tip: Friday and saturday nights can be really noisy with drunken Fins walking home after a night in town...

We booked this hotel because the Ferry Company, with whom we voyaged on the over-nighter from Stockholm, suggested that this was a good hotel. Basically clean, the hotel's lobby is on the 2nd floor, which is navigated up from street level via an escalator. Very accommodating staff, reasonably clean, great breakfast, and comfortable. Turku is nothing special and probably a good bet to eliminate this town from your bucket list. The Scandic is an OK place. One night is enough and don't expect this hotel to be a destination place.
