Just arrived back from two weeks at the Riverside Holiday Village. The pool areas are fantastic - something for everyone! The apartments are slightly worn with very little in the way of equipment for washing or cooking. If you don't like cats, your in trouble, as there are quite a few sharinig your holiday with you.

The Ranch Bar Managers - Robbie and Avis - were a delight, both informative and entertaining. We were always welcomed both before and after we had been out for dinner - on one of their excellent recommendations. Keep up the good work guys!

Overall we had an excellent time and would recommend the Riverside to anyone coming to N Cyprus for the first time.

we got back yesterday after a week at riverside. we thought the waiters were very friendly and nice.
we were put in a little two story unit that was well past its sell by date with really old bathroom suite and tasteless furnishings. some new furniture and some really tatty stuff. we were on a bed and breakfast board basis and had hoped to be able to cook an evening meal but the kitchen area was very lacking in equipment and only had a 2 ring hob. we asked for a teapot but never got it. the unit was surrounded by overgrown shrubs and no natural light came into the room, the path to it was weedy. we were moved next day which was good.
the 2nd room we had was much better but the patio did,nt have anything to sit on so we did ask the lady in charge but then we were refused chairs as they said the dinning chairs could be used. they were metal and wood and awkward to get through the tiny patio door.
the apartment was a very long walk up an endless small path up hill albeit pretty.
the resort is not really good enough for older people who cant walk far also for anyone on self catering as although there is a mini market it does,nt sell much in the way of food.
the nearest bigger supermarket is a very long walk and uphill all the way back.
the gardens around the resort are very nice and in flower. very pretty.
there is just a small bar open from 6 in the evening until 2 but most people have left by.
1.
the area where the resort is, is out of the way and you really do need a car. we hired one direct from the resort and although it was old and a bit rusty it was OK at £14 a day total.
one thing to check if you arrive late at night which is usual for the flights to the north is if your on b and b or self catering check how much you will be charged for a meal(leftovers from dinner) we were told 15 lire in the dinning room but at leaving time this went up to 35 lire each. it defiantly was not worth it.
we did question it and they did drop it a little but it still wasn't worth it.
i would recommend this resort only id you want to stay on the resort and have full bard and no walking difficulties. we would defiantly not go there again.
the resort is a long way from kyrenia and although there is a shuttle service its operating hours are not that good. ps bring a hairdryer

Just got back from a week at the Riverside and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Great for relaxing but don't expect great food if you are on B & B as the breakfast is traditional Turkish fayre and the same every day. The accomodation is a little care-worn but this does not detract from the overall quality of our experience. Would recommend you try it as the setting if wonderful.

Riverside is a beautiful tranquil holiday village set in the mountains away from the noise and bustle of Kyrenia but for me it was a very mixed experience, let me start with the good bits..
The pool area is to die for with three lovely swimming pools to suit all ages, pool bar and facilities such as gym, sauna, massage, tennis and jacuzzi vailable at a small extra charge. The gardens and pathways are beautiful and there is plentyof parking if you have a car and car hire available if you dont. Staff in the main are helpful and polite and rooms and villas are cleaned daily...

Now the not so good bits..

The villa we stayed in was clean but looked dated after 3 days the hot water tank sprung a leak and could not be repaired so we were moved in the the villa next door (to be fair it was a bigger villa and we were given it at no extra charge) we were told the aircon in the bedroom was not working but we said that this was no problem as May is not unbearably hot so we did not need the aircon, two days later we returned to the villa to find 4 contractors ripping the old unit out and putting a new one in, I politely pointed out that this should not have been done whilst we were staying in the villa as it is a mornings work but work proceeded regardless. in and around all this maintainence seemed to be an issue we found loose electrical sockets that did not work and leaking waste pipes under the sink in the kitchen. We also booked the evening bus that the hotel runs to take us in to Kyrenia only to find when we arrived in reception at 8.30pm to take it that it was not going to run because not enough people had booked it... H,mmm. Hotel's pub is extortionate 22 lira for two Vodka and mixer!!! and hotels shop is expensive and VERY basic.

Would I stay agian YES but only because my girlfriend liked it, if I was travelling alone then NO I would not.

We have visited Northern Cyprus before but this was our first visit to Riverside and was recommended by a friend. We were a little out of season but the weather was still very hot during the day and only became cooler in the evenings, out of 11 days it only rained once! The facilities are basic but very good, for children the water slides are fantastic. Kyrenia is only a 15 minute drive away but Riverside put on a complementary bus to the local beech and Kyrenia daily. The food was very good at the Hotel although not a massive choice it is cooked to a very high standard. We would definitely visit again and probably at a similar time of year as I can imagine at the height of the season it could get quite congested in places.
