“Brilliant views and villas were amazing!”
Reviewed 18 November 2013

We just stayed 2 nights in Villa Creativity and the villa is amamzing. It had a hot tub kept constant at 38 degrees. view of the fjords were just breath taking. Breakfast selection is huge and very filling. We havent seen the smaller rooms, but i reckon if you can afford it, go with one of the villas available, you wont regret it!

The hotel is about 35km from Borganes and about 24km from Arkanes. We went to both towns and we prefered Arkanes, they have supplies there as well from Bonus supermarket and its a small quaint town, we had a great time just walking around the neighbourhood, its not to be missed.

Dinner was a splendid affair, like what most people mentioned, serving is slightly on the small side, but it still filled you up, quality is very good and it is expensive.

They have the northern lights wake up call but its a pity that we didnt get to see the norhtern lights while we were there. The hot water in the shower does smell strongly of sulphur but you will get used to it after a while. THe floors of the villas were all heated so it felt extremely comfortable.

overall, go for the villas, you wont regret it. THeres a small church at the end of the road of the hotel, go there and have a view of the fjords, its stunning there. On the way back to Rejkavik, instead of turning right towards Arkanes/Borganes, we turned left instead back to Rejkavik, the journey is about 20km longer, but we got to see the other side of the fjords, the view is alot more spectacular compared to the other side.

Room Tip: Go for the villas and face towards the fjords, you wont regret it!

3 nights in the Villa Nature, great facilities, fabulous views of the fjord from the deck and hot tub.
The hotel itself serves an excellent breakfast and the staff are very good, the manageress gave us a lot of help to plan a day out which was extremely useful.
Saw the Northern Lights each night so our trip was a huge success. Hotel has a call system if the Lights are coming out so you don't have to sit up all night. Remember to pack thermals, temperature might not seem low (-3 or 4) but wind chill is murderous.

Room Tip: Upgrade to the villas, particularly if you go with a couple of friends, well worth it.

My Wife Eileen has already reviewed the Hotel. I would just add that I felt it had a really friendly atmosphere that I loved since I normally stay in 4* + corporate hotels that are soul less. I would definitely come back here and Eileen also forgot to mention we also saw the fabulous Northern Lights because of th hotel wake up service.

Just returned from Iceland and the Hotel Glymur, stayed in a a villa which was well equipped very comfortable and had a stunning view of the fjord.
Main Hotel was excellent, food really good although choice of main courses a bit limited when eating there every evening. However, staff excellent nothing too much trouble and manageress very kindly sorted us a helicopter trip which was an unforgettable experience particularly as we were picked up by helicopter from the Hotel. It was awesome .
Thank you Hotel Glymur for making our stay in Iceland so special.

Room Tip: If travelling with a family I would suggest the villas as you get all the same facilities as Hotel b...

We had the most brilliant trip to Iceland - which was made excellent because if this wonderful hotel. The staff were so attentive and friendly and the rooms were excellent. The food was expensive - but everywhere in Iceland is expensive for food - however the food and service at this hotel were marvellous. We would defiantly return here.

We spent the last three days of our Iceland trip here and it was our favourite stop. The cabins are fabulous. They have six of them set on the hill bleow the hotel and they look out over the fjord. We were in the highest one nearest the hotel but it still felt completely private. The open plan lounge/kitchen area is great - a really big space with floor to ceiling windows and great views. There is a separate bedroom and bathroom and huge deck with a private hot pot on it. Who knew how good it was at the end of the day to sit out at night in a giant hot bath! The cabin was very warm and cosy with good underfloor heating. It is a very quiet area with so little passing traffic - we found it completely relaxing yet with access to the hotel staff if you needed them. Thye were really helpful when needed (cabin could do with a few instructions!).

We used Borganes as a base for shopping and lunches. It had everything you need - a good bakery, restuarant (Settlement Centre), liquor store and two supermarkets. It was about 20 minutes drive away. From the hotel we also drove to Glymur waterfall and hiked up. This is an excellent walk (about 2 and 1/2 hours up and down) though I wouldn't fancy it in poor visibilty. I'd recommend taking a photo of the map in the car park and watching for the yellow and then white paint on the rocks and maybe read up about it first. We loved it.

This hotel had the strongest smell of sulphur in the water of anywhere we had stayed though it didn't bother us. The villas are great and we would recommend them to any one.

We were not able to stay here overnight on our recent first trip to Iceland, but would love to do so. Instead, we had lunch after hiking to Glymur falls.

Absolutely stunning views.

We had the same sandwich described and photographed by smicken. Excellent presentation and meal.

The decor and style struck us as being far more high end than the Grand Hotel in Reykjavik where we stayed.

We plan on returning to try the accommodations for ourselves.
