“Worth a visit”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

The weather was not nice when I went there, so there is no one I can see there. It added a sense of serenity that worth time to walk around. But it is quite small, so don't expect to linger over an hour.

“Pleasant city park”
Reviewed 26 March 2014

The medium sized park has unusual rock formations combined with grass and plenty of trees. The name comes from the traditional belief that elves inhabit certain locations. I didn't see any elves, but I understand it is illegal to build in any location in Iceland in which they inhabit.

“Wonderful little stroll”
Reviewed 20 November 2013

Hafnarfjordur is a great place to experience a "slower" Iceland. Right next to the capitol Reykjavik (15 minutes by public bus) with a stunning harbor, the Viking Village Hotel, and an elf garden! This little park is wonderful little stroll, especially on a sunny day. With some very special flower and tree specimens and exhibits, it is interesting too. And although you are far more likely to meet some friendly Icelandic cats than an elf, I am sure the elves enjoy the people watching.

“They Really Exist”
Reviewed 2 August 2013

This garden really feels like something unworldly exists. Icelanders really do believe in elves and what they call, "Hidden Folk". People ask the elves to help them or to stop a problem. There is even a rock between 2 houses with its own address--for elves!

“garden visit”
Reviewed 8 April 2013

We visited this lovely little park in April, so it was still kind of bare, but with a good imagination and little faith, you see a garden of elves! The kids loved running up and down and through the lava fromations, exploring little caves and good old fashioned hide and seek!
