“Cozy Clean Room”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 April 2014

Easy to spot the hotel (RED in color), well equipped mini kitchenette with neat carpentry.
Room is clean and cozy.
Most importantly, there is free parking and free wifi (in room).
Staff are friendly and the breakfast is yummy, especially the waffles =)

My son and I stayed here for 3 nights. I chose this place because I wanted to be far from the center hoping to see the auroras at night. Didn't see them because activity was low and it was cloudy. Sort of expected this.

My room was facing a warehouse so their lights were up all night.

The rooms are nice and huge. Bathroom needs to be updated. The flush sometimes got stuck so water kept flowing so it got wasted. Some people wouldn't mind but I felt bad about it. Had to sort of tap the button to make sure that it's properly closed and water would stop running. Telephone shower holder needs to be changed. It couldn't stay upright.

Wifi connection was good. Breakfast was good. They had cold cuts, bread, waffles, cereals nod some sweets then juices were available too.

We were too far from Reykjavik to be picked up by tour company we got. This was my mistake.

We took the S1 going to Reykjavik which was about 20-40 minutes depending on the time. The bus stop was just right out of the hotel.

Only thing I didn't like was the receptionist at night. He helped because he had to but seemed like he was always being hassled. During check-in, he just gave us the key and that's it. Looked like he wanted to get back to his computer. The other receptionist was nice and helpful.

Would stay here again if I have a car and want to see sights near the area.

If we go back to Iceland we will definitely stay at this Hotel again. It was spotlessly clean, the reception staff were brilliant really friendly and always helpful answering our questions, booking tours, telephoning if the coach was a few minutes late picking us up just to check they were on their way. They were great. Bus stop outside which you can jump on to go to Reykjavik or anywhere. You can buy bus passes at the Hotel reception either 1, 2 or 3 day ones. Buses run every 15 minutes in the day and half hourly later and they are always on time not even a minute late! Very reliable. The is a lovely ice cream/fast food/video rental place next door with a few tables in and the choice of toppings for ice cream was fantastic. Behind the Hotel there are bars and restaurants amongst what looks like an industrial estate but this was what seemed normal in Iceland. American Diner out the back was really good as was the Irish pub nearby. Good breakfast at the Hotel also. Iceland is a lovely place go there and stay at this Hotel.

Chose this hotel because of TA reviews and was not disappointed. It is sited on the edge of a trading estate so not much atmospheric around, but not too much noise either. We had a hire car but if relying on buses I might have felt a bit isolated, I note other guests say the buses are 1/2 hourly but not sure what time they stop. Room was clean and spacious but a couple of niggles, the comfortable bed was within about 10cm off the wall on one side making it virtually impossible to get out of bed without climbing over the person on the other side. This also meant there was no room for a bedside table, a necessity for drinking water glasses etc. All they have to do is move it over a bit ! In addition there was only one chair in the room, where do they expect the other person to sit, lounging on the bed is not always comfortable.
Very useful kitchenette for making drinks and snacks from the supermarket just down the road.
Breakfast was standard european type fare with the addition of rather stodgy porridge and some fresh fruit. All quite adequate and being a buffet as filling as you might want.
Front desk made us tea and offered to make sandwiches when we had to check out for an early flight before breakfast.

My partner and I stayed here recently for a 6 night winter break, travelling by Easyjet from Bristol.
The hotel was a short drive (@40 mins) from Kleflavik Airport and is en route for the airport shuttle into Reykjavik so we were dropped at the door. The hotel is very clean as stated and incidentally the bathrooms do not have a problem; it is the geothermal hot water supply. The young staff were all friendly and helpful and they were happy to book any trips we wanted to do. The hotel has a good selection of brochures regarding activities and trips available. The hotel was quite quiet while we were there as it was not busy so I cannot say what it would be like in the summer. As mentioned by others, a party of school children arrived while we were there but after initial excitement and slamming of doors on arrival we did not hear them. The continental buffet breakfast was perfectly adequate. We booked a room with a small kitchenette which was useful. There is a small supermarket 10 mins walk away plus a range of eating establishments (mostly fast food) within easy walking distance. There is also a bus stop outside with regular buses into Reykjavik (@ 20 mins each way, cost about £2). We found that we did not need the Reykjavik card as you would need to pack a lot into a day to make it worth while. We booked on a number of coach tours with Reykjavik Excursions at short notice who were excellent and arranged pick-ups to and from the hotel. It was nice to be able to decide the night before what we wanted to do. No doubt in the high season you may need to book in advice. We also booked on the Northern Lights Tour with the same company and were lucky enough to see the aurora. However they will offer to take people out again for free if they do not see anything so it is best to book this trip at the beginning of your stay. The same goes for any whale watching excursions. Beware that if you do book on the Northern Lights trip you may not get in until after 2.00am which is not so good if you have an early start planned the next morning! The only downside would be the additional trips into Reykjavik by shuttle bus to join the coach tours but we did not find this to be a problem and if you want to eat out obviously it is much cheaper out of town than in the city centre. All in all I would say this is a great place to stay if you want a budget DIY trip to visit the South West of Iceland.

Room Tip: Rooms at back would be quieter away from the busy road and car park.

Me and my partner have stayed at this hotel for 5 days in March 2014. The hotel was lovely, very clean and with friendly staff. Both ladies and gentlemen at the reception were very helful, spoke very good English and always knew how to help when we had some queries. Also the cleaning ladies were very polite and helpful. Hotel offers a complimentary breakfast with a selection of really tasty food. We had a wonderful time there and we are already planning to come back. Would definitely recommend.
