“Great location - close to Jakulsarlon!”

We stayed here for one night after a long drive from Reykjavik. This places is perfectly located as after making lots of stops we were glad we didn't have to drive any further that evening after visiting the glacial lagoon.

The room was very spacious and clean and tidy. The beds very comfortable and we had a good sleep. My only small complaint was that the room was right next to the bathroom so we could hear everyone doing their business e.g. a lovely man clearing out his throat for about 15 minutes, not a pleasant way to wake up - of course this is no fault of the hotel, but be sure to ask for a room way from the bathroom.

Also the staff were VERY FRIENDLY. The breakfast was also tasty and the dark bread was so fresh and delicious.

Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: We stayed in room #14 (facing north) and it was right next to the bathroom. The walls were quite thi...

My husband and I just arrived home from our weeklong stay in Iceland. We took our four children (ages 9, 7, 5 and 4) and had a wonderful time. We stayed in Reykjavik for 5 nights and one night at the Hali Country Hotel. Hali was a wonderful place to stay. The location was convenient, only just down the road from the amazing Jokularson glacial lagoon. The views were beautiful: to the south was the Atlantic Ocean and to the North were majestic mountains. The owners and staff were friendly, welcoming and accommodating. The hotel rooms (2) were clean, modern and spacious. The dinner at their restaurant was delicious - we had the Arctic Char, Icelandic lobster and salted Cod. My kids loved their broccoli and cheese soup, meatballs and Arctic Char. And to top it off, we saw the Northern Lights just steps from our hotel room! Thank you Hali for such a wonderful experience!

Stayed there with two friends during our recent trip around the island. Thought that the farm-turned-hotel offered a good mix of beautiful views, friendly staff, tasty food, and an exhibit about a famous Icelandic author who was born on that farm. Thanks to Ian, a lovely, cute waiter from Czech Republic, my friends and I had a taste of an interesting meal combo you won't get anywhere but Iceland -- the rotten shark and potato vodka -- offered during the winter food festival. That experience was definitely a highlight of our trip and an unending source of stories when we returned home.

I was recently on a photo tour in Iceland and we had 4 wonderful nights at this beautiful guesthouse. It's well situated near many of the scenic spots and serves the most delicious food. Definitely try their lamb soup and grilled Atlantic char. The hostess and staff were warm and welcoming and the rooms were warm, comfortable and spotless.

We stayed here in the little yellow house. We had the upstairs unit. What a view it has! Looks like something out of a postcard! The breakfast here was wonderful! Staff was super friendly and gave lots of tips on northern lights viewing possibilities! This is very close to the Joklusarlon lagoon. Super location! definitely would recommend!

Room Tip: Stay in the little yellow house if they are 4 people in your group! Super accommodations!

My photo tour group stayed in the little yellow house for 2 nights in January. There are 2 apartments, one up, one down. Both have 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen and sitting room. The upstairs apartment even had a Christmas tree still up.

We loved this place. It was clean, comfy, new (or recently renovated) and a cozy place to snuggle up and chat after a long day at the ice lagoon or the crystal caves. The kitchen was also equipped with a tea kettle and a few tea bags. We enjoyed that.

Wifi was available, too.

We ate 2 dinners and 2 breakfast here and they were excellent. Breakfast was always the buffet but one night we did buffet and one night we had a served meal. I remember the portions being big and the soups being fabulous.

Keep in mind, this is somewhat rural Iceland so you don't get 4 star rated hotels here. With that said, I loved it, and would go back.

(Note that if you have a potty emergency at the ice beach, you can head back here. It's not that far away...)

Hali was a nice guesthouse, clean, good shower pressure, very good included breatfast buffet and coffee with good variety, fresh fish in dinner (though dinner a little expensive-but most dinners in Icelandic are). The setting in the middle of the mountains is beautiful! It is much closer to Jokulsarlon so you dont have to drive further to Hofn for a hotel, convenient if jokulsarlon is your final destination before returning to Reykjavik. If you are not in the main building then internet is very weak-so ask for a room with a good connection if thats important to you. Lively lobby with a small museum of icelandic photographs. They have cheaper rooms with shared bathroom or reasonable priced rooms with inbuilt bathrooms. If you visit jokulsarlon, dont forget to cross to the opposite side of the bridge to see the miniature version-smaller ice pieces on the black beach-its beautiful!

Room Tip: If you want internet get a room closer to the main building. Also mountain views are spectacular to...
