Recently stayed 2 nights in an en suite room. Conveniently located about 10km east of Jokulsarlon lagoon although I have to say the hotel could be better sign-posted. The room we had was spotless, comfortable and well appointed with great views of the coastline and steep cliffs behind. Good wi-fi connection. The restaurant was located a couple of minutes walk from the guest rooms but a nice walk. The food was the best we'd had in Iceland - traditional Icelandic dishes for evening meals including lamb and Arctic Char produced on the farm - fresh and great quality. Breakfast was also good and the service was friendly and helpful. Overall, whilst the cost for food and rooms is comparable to elsewhere in Iceland, the warm hospitality and quality are better. Would be very happy to stay again.

Room Tip: Go for one of the en suite rooms as these appear to be the most modern. Also try the roast lamb - de...

This is a very big farm with several houses, each with rooms, kitchens, living rooms. There is also a very nice restaurante and a small, interesting museum (its free for guests). The breakfast was the best we had in Iceland. The room was nice. There is Tea and Cofee available in the living room. A little big Hotel for Iceland but as it was divided between several houses you don't notice too much.

The room was very basic in every way and the bed, mattress & linen were OK. In the toilet there was an incredibly horrible smell from the sewers!! We complained and the staff offered us another room (we had booked a double, and they offered a twin. We did not accept, even though in that room the toilet didn't smell like sewer. The beds were also unmade in the new room). They then promised to take a look and "fix" the smell in the toilet but they never did.

During our stay the room wasn't cleaned even once - they didn't even empty the trash can in the toilet neither cleaned the hand papers dropped to the floor!! So no cleaning whatsoever! The only thing made was the linen changed. There are NO phones in the rooms, so you can't call to the front desk if you need smth, etc. Instead you have to walk all the way to the Reception house every time. The rooms are a some way away from the reception, in different buildings. If it's dark, you will need a flashlight.

Also there aren't any sound proofing whatsoever! So everything - people speaking, walking, etc. - at the corridors, you can hear everything to the room! Even though the breakfast was OK as well was the Christmas buffet (good lamb, f.ex.) this place is NOT worth its pretty expensive rates! It's just conveniently located if you want to visit Jökulsarlón glacier lagoon and stay nearby overnight. Also nice views, it's on the beach and on the other side there are mountain views.

A wonderful guesthouse, perfectly located for visiting the glacier lagoon. The staff was friendly and helpful, rooms were clean and comfortable, food was tasty and much of it was grown there on the farm. The restaurant was spendy, but not unusually so for Iceland and was well prepared and delicious. We had a lunch packed for our travels when we left and the sandwich was quite deluxe. The lodge has a nice central area for relaxing and having a cup of tea or chocolate.

This was my third visit to Hali - each time on an annual photography trip. Each time I stay one more night (4 this time)! I use the "sleeping bag" option, which is cheaper and you just have to provide your own sleeping bag. I stayed in the same house, which has two bathrooms (one has a much better shower - I had no problem with hot water as previous reviewers had mentioned), and a big kitchen and sitting area. The kitchen's not particularly well-stocked - they could do with a trip to Ikea to stock up on things like a colander and grater and some sharp knives, but it was adequate. I also ate in the restaurant a couple of times - tasty arctic char!
The staff are all really friendly and helpful and it has free wifi throughout. It is only 13km to Jokulsarlon, so is perfectly located for photographers wanting to be close to there for sunrise, sunset and any northern lights (which I finally saw this time).
They have expanded a lot, but I didn't see any drop in service. Will stay there again, for sure!

Room Tip: I love the rooms in the small house (11-16) - I've stayed in 11 and 12 and they're both love...

Perfectly located in relation to Jökulsárlón with a spectacular backdrop of its own. My husband and I stayed one night in the hotel in a double room. The room was spotless and quite modern with a comfortable bed. We arrived around 7 in the evening and ate at the onsite restaurant. The prices were comparable to most Icelandic eateries. The staff was lovely and the food tasty. As a vegetarian I always worry when wandering away from metro areas but the restaurant had a fantastic entree sized tomato and red pepper soup as well as a veggie burger (which I did not try). The breakfast buffet was adequate with a wide array of options (waffles, cereals, fish, veggies, fruit, toast, ect). I would highly recommend the Hali Country Hotel and most certainly stay there again.

My sister and I stayed here when we visited Jokulsarlon. We chose it because of the proximity, good reviews, price and that breakfast is included. There is a kitchen for cooking, so to save money, we opted to bring food and cook dinner there (the on-site restaurant was expensive). The (shared) kitchen is fully equipped with pots, pans, silverware, plates, glasses, etc. There is also a little sitting area with a TV.

The bathroom is shared and was very clean and spacious. At least two of the rooms in our building were occupied but we never had to wait to use the bathroom.

Our room was clean, spacious and quiet. We had breakfast in the restaurant in the morning (included in the price) and it was good food. They had coffee, tea, a range of homemade breads, fruit, vegetables, hard boiled eggs, cereals, cakes, and some fish salad that was good.

I recommend this hotel.
