Description: Cozy family owned restaurant offering steaks, seafood, pizza, pasta or burgers made with passion. Our food is not off the shelf, but homemade from scratch. We offer typical icelandic dishes like lamb and cod or catfish in a fresh, modern style. In the summer time it is great to sit outside in our plaza and enjoy delicious food, snacks and cocktails. Housed in one of the oldest buildings in Husavik and in the city centre you can't miss us.

I went twice to Salka while staying in Husavik. First time, it was quiet and I had fish of the day. Very good quality of the fish and well cooked and delicious. Second time I had lamb and the lamb and the sauce could not have been better.

Dear sguissardi,

thank you for you review. We are glad that you have enjoyed your stay. However, there is something we have to point out:

We have NEVER had whale meat on our menu, nor can you buy whale dishes in ANY restaurant in Húsavík.

We have all agreed not to sell /serve it. Húsavík is world famous for whale watching and we find it much more intelligent to present these creatures alive, in their natural habitat just in front our door, rather than on your plate.

The puffin is also gone from the menu (this we actually had, but we decided to change that).

Greetings from Iceland!

Travelling on the South African Rand our budget is stretched quite a bit in Iceland but Salka was a nice surprise - deliciously tasty food at a reasonable price. Not to mention the friendly service. Our waitress was very helpful, she even looked at the Aurora Borealis forecast for us.

Dear Camillaocacosta,

we feel honoured to welcome guests from the other end of the world. Nice that you found our restaurant. Good, that you liked your stay, but one question remains unanswered...did you get to see the Northern Lights??

Curious, Salka Crew

This was/is one of my favourite restaurants in the area. I was with friends and we all ordered the Arctic Char. We had had the same menu in another restaurant in town earlier in the week - but this one was amazing. The wait staff were all very pleasant despite being super busy and the meal and wine were reasonably priced (for Iceland). I would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone staying in Husavik.

Located very close to the Husavik's Whale watching centres, museum and port, this place proves the tourist traps are not always bad. Beautiful wooden house, great service and a very talented treatment of seafood. Do not miss the bisques - one of the best I have ever tasted.

Thank you very much for your nice review. The seafood soup is actually one of our signature dishes. It takes almost three days to prepare.
Our chefs and the service staff were very pleased to read you review. Hope to see you again one day!
