A very warm welcome from the staff (who used to live in the house when she was a child) after collecting the key from the hotel just down the road.

We had a pleasant, clean upstairs room next to the main lounge. Both shared bathrooms are downstairs which meant some traipsing up & down the stairs past those still in the lounge.

We stayed two nights. Breakfast was down the road in the hotel which was simple but good enough. Free wifi in the guesthouse was good. We went on one of the whale watching tours which was excellent, getting within touching distance of humpbacks. We chose the North Sailing company as they have bigger boats which are a bit more stable.

Downside: one of the showers didn't get hot properly, and the hot water had that sulphurous smell which was a bit unpleasant.

Room Tip: Best to get one downstairs to be closer to the shared bathrooms and away from any noise in the loung...

It was the most expensive stay for us in Iceland, but Husavik seems to be quite expensive.
The guesthouse is located about 5 min walk from the harbour and 2 min from the swimmingpool. It has free WiFi. Towels, linnen and breakfast were included.
The manager and his team were very friendly.

The room was very small, so we could hardly walk arround in front of the beds while the suitcase was placed on the floor. Apart from floor or bed there was no other place to leave it.
The walls and doors are thin, so it may be quite noisy inside.

The bathrooms are shared, but very clean and quite big. The "old" breakfast room upstairs is very nice; breakfast is now served in the "new hotel" about 1 or2 min walk up the street.

Even though there was a mix-up with our reserved night and we were unable to stay in this Guesthouse, the owner was incredibly sweet and went through great pains to locate us the following day, apologize in person, offer us a refund, and even gave us a beautiful photography book for our troubles. This impressed us enough that we will seek out this Guesthouse upon our return to the area. The owner did not have to go through all the time and trouble, and was very kind. Without staying in the place, but based solely on the owner's kindness, we would seek this place out again. Thank you for your kindness, Husavik Guesthouse!

This was the most expensive guesthouse we had on our trip, but the standard was more or less the same as the rest of them. The breakfast had more to wish for. The room was quite nice and the staff helpful. Next time to Husavik we would try to find a cheaper guesthouse.

Be aware, the same owner has another house called the "Myvatn Road Guesthouse" 5 km away from town which is not as nice as everybody rates this one. We booked it because this one was full and the other was offered to us by the owner, following these reviews thinking that it would be quite alike this one but it's not. Ours was a quite old family house, not a guesthouse in the proper sense, you feel like in someone else's private house, tiny triple room full of flies, the size enough for a single room, we could not even open our suitcases when we were in. The owner was not there to receive us, the door is open and only a telephone welcomes you, on the other end someone gives you the instructions to use the house. Really bad first impression! Poor matresses, old bathroom, water with the smell of sulfur though that happens quite often around Iceland. All that for 135 € a triple room it's not at all worth it. We would have paid not more than half of that amount for the quality received. Would not recommend it at all, perhaps the house in town centre is better but not "Myvatn Road Guethouse". Please, be aware!

Husavik is propably one of the towns, you’ll have to spend a night or two when you visit Iceland because it is the base for the North whale and puffin watching tours, has a lot of interesting museums and is near the Lake Myvatn. Husavik Guesthouse is a more than satisfying option for your stay. It is located five minutes away from the port. The owner is very friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and comfortable (although they could have been a little bigger or have a small table). The locks, however, are quite difficult and noisy. The bathrooms are big and clean and there is also a basin in the rooms. The breakfast is served in the first floor hall and is more than satisfying. We would definitely recommend it.
