We (with husband and sister) spent 2 days with Sig before joining a group. We are each at a different level photographically and Sig was helpful to each of us individually. We went to places we would not have found on our own, with Sig telling us about the history and culture of Iceland, enriching our visit. We brought home beautiful pictures and wonderful memories.

In 2 different tours on successive days, Sigurjón Pétursson (Sig) introduced us to the Iceland he loves and is proud of. He is a photographer, a lifelong resident & certified tour guide of Iceland. He’s also a good teacher. We were a party of 3. I am a long-time amateur photographer who was interested in an Icelander’s take on what is photogenic. My wife and her sister are interested in photography, but relatively new to it. Sig was prepared for both levels and while we discussed composition styles of photography, he helped the two of them feel comfortable using their new cameras.
The weather (which, in Iceland, is referred to as a state of mind) was less than cooperative and yet we came away from the two days feeling pleased that we had seen parts of Iceland we would not have seen on a more typical tour.
Our first tour was on the day of our arrival. He picked us up from the airport at 7AM local time (2AM our time) and took us to a local historical sod house en route to The Viking Museum, both of which gave us a good basic understanding of early Icelandic life. After bkfst there, we headed to a local shrine, a seaside church, the President’s Residence, his hometown, and then to the Hallgrimskirkja Cathedral, a striking modern structure, winding up at the Sun Voyager sculpture in downtown Reykjavik We then lunched, where we planned the next day, before being dropped off at our hotel. It was a leisurely way to spend the time before we would be able to check in to the hotel.
The next morn, 7AM, he picked us up for our 12 hour tour to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. He brought us to a small black church that was very photogenic and suggested, as he would in other stops, possible angles that might produce more interesting shots. We also stopped at a natural stone arch by the seaside, and took an off-road excursion through an intriguing old moss covered lava field.
He was very flexible about making stops when the scenery demanded it. When one waterfalls destination was eliminated due to the heavy rain we experienced, he shifted gears and found us another with better conditions where we were able to spend time shooting it the way we wanted.
Would I recommend the trip to fellow photographers of all levels? Without a moment’s hesitation. Sig is a very personable and amenable guide and if I am able to get back to Iceland, it is my intention to take another tour with him. I would trust him to be my exclusive guide for a tour around the Island!

After spending 2 extraordinary weeks with Photo Tours in Iceland. I can highly recommend them for deep and moving experience in this captivating country. Not only seeing amazing sights off the beaten path but also learning all about Icelandic history and culture, geology, local birds, every waterfall, mountain and glacier. Their willingness to help get the most compelling photos is truly appreciated. Looking forward to returning for another tour. A class outfi!

Just spent 10 days with Sigurjion Petursson and his wife Thora Hronn Njalsdottir on an all-inclusive, 2-guest private photo tour of Iceland. One of the highlights of my life! Not only are Sigurjion and Thora Hronn delightful and helpful, their knowledge of Iceland is unsurpassed.

They arranged for us to stay in just the right locations: comfortable and always good or excellent food. One night a bridge on the ring road was washed out, blocking our plans for the next morning. With only hours’ notice that we would have to backtrack, Sigurjion and Thora Hronn gracefully arranged a tour of some wonderful spots to photograph that we were not originally planning to see.

We asked to see off-the-beaten-path places, rather than the standard fare for photography tours. Since they have camped, backpacked, snowmobiled, and ridden ATV’s all over the highlands, we got to see and photograph things that most people never hear of.

On top of all that, they are two very fun people! I would highly recommend this tour for serious photographers.

Such a good day excellent photography information, beautiful photo sites and very good company! We started before sunrise and stopped at the Peace Garden. The next stop was to catch the morning light on the waterfall. Then I was coached on how to get a beautiful photo of the Geysir and finished with a rainbow shot of Gullfoss.

It was a very rewarding day for us also to show you our country, tell its history, explain geology and teach photography. Thank you for being such a good company.
