“Just fabulous!!!!!”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

I so enjoyed my meal here the langoustine soup was a blend of coconut milk subtlety spiced with clementines! What a combination served with the broth brought to the table separately the langoustines were like pats of butter melting in your mouth with every spoon. One of the best soups I have ever had anywhere! Great job chef

The monkfish was good but did not wow me. After the soup I don't think anything could compare.the service here warm friendly but very professional. casual cozy decor very relaxed atmosphere.

The dessert absolutely amazing blueberry crumble cake with a sticky caramel topping that must have been drizzled on it with almonds that were also lightly coated with a candied coating . It sat upon a thin bade of blueberry cream and was topped with a small scoop of ice cream The portion was huge I couldn't eat it all well I could have but stopped myself.

I also had a glass of wine and a cappuccino came to 103 00 Canadian.this is. A great place large groups would need a reservation as a solo diner I made a reservation the day I dined

“Memorable Fish Dinner At A Very Special Restaurant!!!”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

With no reservation, 2 of us arrived during the dinner hour and were seated at the Tiki bar downstairs, overlooking the kitchen. Fascinating watching the activities associated with meal preparation in such a small kitchen. Cod entree was suggested by our lovely waitress and it has to be one of the best fish dinners ever, and we eat a lot of fish. Dessert also was suggested and was a cheesecake that was almost a pudding and very delightful. We'd go back tonight if we could. Very special restaurant

“Best fish soup in Iceland”
Reviewed 5 July 2014

We had the fish soup on two visits to The Fish Market and it was absolutely wonderful. The rich flavors, lots of fish and a creamy smoothness leaves you wanting more. Well worth a trip!

“Fantastic. Best Choice in Reykjavik”
Reviewed 5 July 2014

We stayed in Reykjavik for a week and had a chance to try out most of the high-end restaurants - Fish Market was our clear favorite. Every bite of food, from the complimentary bread to the entrees, was delicious. We had salted cod at a number of restaurants we went to, and the Fish Market's version was hands-down the best. Would highly recommend.

“Good not great”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

The attempt to add some Asian ideas to Icelandic food seems almost natural, what with the common obsession with seafood and freshness, but the way this is implemented at Fismarkadurinn leaves a bit to be desired. Some of the dishes simply did not work, e.g. a panfried blueling with a satay sauce that was overly sweet, covering up the taste of the other ingredients. The best dish was an appetizer - mussels steamed in beer and accompanied by a very nice local craft beer. Bottom line: nice enough but nothing to write home about.
