You have to see this beautiful sculpture if you visit Reykjavik! It’s not far from the harbor and the view across the bay is also beautiful if the sky is fairly clear.

This is a favorite among tourists to stop and take photos along the seaside. Wait your turn or they get a little testy...
Afterward, head into town for dinner or shopping.

We did not plan to visit this place, it was occasional visit. At midnight, We three couples decided to have a walk on the road. And while walking we came to this place, it was around 1 km from our hotel Leifur Erikssion. The place was amazing around 1 a.m. in the morning we were at this location and it was still evening light. Place is cool and we spend lots of time at this place. The place was really worth many times than few places we visited as per our program.

The Sun Voyager sculpture is right on the water and sculpture walk. When in Reykjavík, I’d list this as a must. Try to visit early or late in the day to avoid the crowds and people crawling on it, if you want the best pictures. If you get a sunny day, the sculpture shines with the water and mountains in the background. It’s very close to the opera so you can do both at the same time.

As should be the form of all art, open to interpretation. Yes, it’s a Viking ship, but the material, the outline, the size, the orientation, it is breathtaking in its uniqueness....
