We stayed at the Embassy Apartments for 6 nights in early May. We spent 3 nights in Room 90 (a one bedroom apartment) and 3 nights in Room 80 (a studio apartment). Overall, the apartments were excellent--
clean, comfortable and well-equipped. I appreciated the extra touches, such as free wireless internet in each room and direct telephone lines. The location was ideal---a quiet residential street, only a short walk from the main shopping street. There were many foreign embassies within eye sight of the front door (hence the name Embassy Apartments). Check-in was quite easy--after you are buzzed in, your keys are left in an envelope with your name on it in the front hall. We arrived early in the morning before our room was ready, but we were allowed to leave our bags at the apartments while we went to explore the city. When we returned in the afternoon, our bags had been brought to our room. As many reviewers have already noted, having a fully-
equipped kitchen really helped to keep costs down, as eating out can be quite expensive. We booked the apartments by contacting them directly by email and we got a good price for our room(s), so I consider it excellent value for the money. My only criticism is that the bathroom in Room 80 is very small. The sink and shower are tiny. If you are a larger person, you will have some difficulty with the bathroom set-up. Otherwise, I have no complaints and I highly recommend this establishment. We had a wonderful holiday in Iceland and if we return to Reykjavik, we would definitely stay at the Embassy Apartments again.
By the way, I also highly recommend booking some day tours through Iceland Excursions. They will pick up/drop off from the front door of the apartments. If you book online, you will get a 5% discount. Get out and enjoy as much of this exciting country as you can!
