Description: Tiny family owned soup restaurant in the heart of Reykjavik We are the first "soup in bread" restaurant in Iceland. We've been serving soups in bread for over 20 years and still loving it. We don't take reservations, ever - but swing by and we will do our best to fit you in with smiles on our faces! :)

My friend and I ate here 3 times during our stay last week! The soup choices changed every night (usually 2 different soups, meat and vegetarian) and all were delicious. The bread bowls were also great.
It's a quiet cafe/bar that has a great view out over the main street.

We wanted something different but delicious. Scored a home run with the Reindeer Soup in bread Cob bowl. Rounded off with a couple of Local Christmas beers. Atmosphere is warm and cosy and first class service.

Popped in for a bowl of soup in a bread loaf, fun, tasty, good atmosphere & very good soup. Very good value for Reykjavik as was the beer & hot baileys coffee.

A novelty in Iceland, apparently. We had a ginger/coriander vegetable soup. VERY thick and not flavorful. Bread was fairly decent, though. Lovely location and friendly staff, cozy inside.

But can we talk about the decor? There's a very inappropriate portrayal of a black man on the menu, and in the restroom under the sink is a sticker that says, "KEEP ICELAND WHITE." So...is this some sort of white supremacist cafe, or is the sticker not representative of the ownership? Combined, these make me question the motivation behind this cafe.

Bread was decent, soup was decent, but not overly flavorful. Very thick broth (cornstarch?), and not overly generous with vegetables or meat. I've had better soup and better bread in Iceland. And the bread bowl? It seems to be more of a novelty here than in the States, based on these comments.
Price was pretty good (for Iceland) and the place was quaint. I appreciated the candles on each table at lunchtime - it helped to warm up a chilly November afternoon.
