“Slick.”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

We used Reykjavik Excursions for Flybus Transfers from Keflavik Airport to Fosshotel Baron, a (successful!) hunt for the Northern Lights and a tour along the South Coast with Snowmobiling on the soon to erupt Katla Volcano - all very well organised - on time, clean warm buses and happy drivers with lots to say. Nothing is cheap in Iceland (except electricity - but tricky to pack to bring home) but we felt this was good value. Picked up from and delivered back to hotels sometimes via a transfer point at the Bus Station - no hanging about in the cold.

“Golden Circle tour with snowmobiling”
Reviewed 23 November 2013 via mobile

Tour is good for people who are traveling to Iceland for the first time and do not want to rent a car.

Keep in mind that no coordinated tour in Iceland is inexpensive. The tour covered the Golden Circle and gave us an opportunity to snowmobile. To set your expectations, you will be running from site to site.

For snowmobiling, you will have a long, off-road bumpy ride to the location on the glacier. It was an estimated hour in and hour out to that site on an old military vehicle. But the vehicle enhances the experience. Snowmobiling was an hour, with 2 people to a snowmobile. We spent a little extra money to have our own snowmobiles as we had snowmobiles before and we are glad we did that. Don't expect a lot a speed bc most of the people on the trip have never driven a snowmobile. We were lucky bc we were right behind the first guide which allowed us to drive fast. But we often had to wait for others who may not have been comfortable on a snowmobile. If you are a pro at snowmobiling, I recommend doing a tour with a private company where there is a required minimum level of expertise. I'm sure the company has something for more experienced riders... I'd recommend that snowmobile company (iceland mountaineers). They partner with this company. Guides very nice, fun and accommodating.

We enjoyed the tour and it gave us an idea of how we will travel Iceland the next time. So I'd recommend this tour for first time travelers to iceland. It was a long day. Wish we would have brought snacks. We paid $20 US for a bowl of soup, just to give you an idea. (Not the tour company's fault.)

One thing I will note is that our bus did have mechanical issues, causing a 40 minute delay. Thank goodness we were only just leaving the city bc it would have been worse otherwise. That delay did eat in to our touring time... So we did have only 15 minutes at our first stop...which was a shame. And we saw Geysir at night, which you can't photograph well at that time. My recommendation to the company is to start the winter tours earlier, while it is still dark. Considering the time you have to drive to the first stop, you could time it where the arrival is when the sun is up. ( the sun wasn't rising until 9:15 am. And setting around 5 pm)

“Nice day, but better options available”
Reviewed 20 November 2013

I booked the Snaefellsness peninsular tour with Reykjavik excursions because I was desperately searching for a tour the night before, and they were the only ones with a space available. While they took us to some beautiful scenic places, they didn't go anywhere near the glacier or the tunnel used for journey to the centre of the earth. Other companies offered not only the glacier, but also a cave used for filming in Batman and Game of Thrones, and one offered a swim in a hot spring in the middle of nowhere. My guide on this tour was nice enough, but not engaging, and sometimes had to really search for the right word in English. The place where we had lunch was a complete and utter rip off. 2500 kr for soup. That's $25 or 18 euro for a bowl of soup. The tour is also done on a big bus rather than a jeep or mini-bus. I think it was overpriced for what is offered, even though I had a nice day despite crazy weather.

“Terrific guide”
Reviewed 19 November 2013

We used Reykjavik Excursions for a half-day tour of Geysir, Gullfoss and Pingvellir National Park. The weather was terrible -- cold and rainy -- but we had an enjoyable time nonetheless. Our guide was possibly the best informed I've ever experienced and I learned an incredible amount. His English was excellent, but his voice was so soothing that several people fell asleep, which was the only complaint anyone in my group had. However, his grasp of the country's history, politics, culture, etc. was fascinating so I stayed engaged. We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel, the coach was clean and comfortable, and the overall experience was great. I'd definitely use them again.

“Blue Lagoon tour - 13/11/2013”
Reviewed 17 November 2013

We had a tour with Reykjavik excursions, they picked us up at our hotel, took us to the Blue Lagoon and then took us from there to the Blue Lagoon. The journey from the Blue Lagoon to the airport was excellent, the bus arrived and left on time and we made it to the airport in plenty of time for our flight. The journey to the Blue Lagoon to Reykjavik was less good. We were told that pick up would be at 08:30 (by a small minibus to take us to the main Reykjavik Excursions bus terminal where the main bus would leave at 09:00). We didn't get picked up by the minibus from our hotel until 09:05. We were obviously worried during this thirty five minutes that we had been forgotten, we tried ringing Reykjavik Excursions several times to check they were still coming but there was no answer on their phones (this was a common theme with Reykjavik Excursions - they seem to be a bit understaffed on the phones). This late pick up meant that the main bus didn't leave until about 09:20, which gave us less time at the Blue Lagoon (which consdering we had to get the 12:15 airport bus) was quite significant.
