We booked the 15,000 Kronur Special for 4 adults, which was very convenient. It included airport pickup on the 12th of May, Golden Tour on the 13th and Blue Lagoon and back to the Airport on the 15th.
We arrived on May 12 two hours late in Keflavik due to the ash cloud. A Netbus van was waiting for us to bring us to our accommodation (Apartment K) in Reykjavik. So no hassle with the Flybus and getting from the bus station to the Apartment.
On the 13th we were picked up on time at the apartment with a small bus, which did a route through town to pick up others as well. It then brought us to a gas station were a comfortable full size bus was waiting. Another smaller bus dropped off more people. All very orderly and on time. The Tourguide (I think she said her name was Ragna) introduced herself and explained the itinerary for the day.
We first stopped at a power plant were we could buy our morning coffee.
Next we were off to the Geysirs. On route the guide provided us with plenty of commentary, including some stories (sagas) related to things we saw and a lot about Iceland, its history and way of life. We also made a short stop at a smaller waterfall and at a water filled crater (Kerid). At the geysirs was an opportunity to visit the gift shop and cafeteria (45min +/-)
Then it was off to the Gullfoss waterfalls. Quite impressive. Here the stop was quite long so plenty of time to walk around and eat in the restaurant/cafeteria.
From there over a long gravel road through a rather remote area to Thingvellir Park. This place obviously had the guides passion as she took us for a walk and told us all about its 1100 year history.
From here we headed home to Reykjavik and by 5 o'clock we were dropped of a block away from our apartment (due to our street being a one-way street.
On Saturday 15th we had chosen 10:30 pick-up for the Blue Lagoon. A small bus picked us up with our luggage. I must say, by the time we left Reykjavik after picking up quite a few more "departers", the bus was stuffed with luggage. It was not quite big enough for this. The people yes, but it was not quite equipped to handle the luggage. But we made it to Blue Lagoon. Admission to the B.L. was included in the ISK 15,000. The bus waited with our luggage in the parking lot till 2:00 pm, when it left for the airport.
I can't judge the other companies, but I recommend Netbus wholeheartedly. Great service and a guide who enjoyed her job.
