Grandakaffi
Price range: US$8 - US$20
Cuisines: Seafood
Description: This restaurant is definitely a hidden germ in Reykjavik, Iceland. We were walking around the area, and spotted this restaurant. We were standing in front of the shop looking at the menu, and the owner came out and invited us to go in!! He is very friendly, humourous and easy going old man. We had a nice chat with him and with other local ppl in the restaurant as well. They were all very friendly! This restaurant serve the best Icelandic Lamb soup and fish in the town!! Even the local ppl told us that they were impressed by the homemade dishes that served in the restaurant!! We have really great time in the restaurant, and would like to recommend it to other tourist that visit reykjavik, Iceland.

“A memorable dining experience in Iceland (Great food and friendly people)”
Reviewed 20 January 2012

We were wandering around the area to take photos and we stopped in front of the restaurant/cafe to see what we can have for lunch. The owner opened the door and greeted us, and invited us to go inside. We were surprised to see lots of local people (we were the only tourist), and they were all very friendly !! The owner treat us a cup of coffee and his specialty- lamb soup/stew served with bread. It was very tasty!! Unfortunately, we didn't taste their fish dish (serve for dinner), as recommended by most of his customers. We really enjoyed the meal and not to forget pleasant chats with the the friendly owner and local people. Hope to visit again !

“The best Kaffi and Kleinur there is”

Situated on the west side of the harbour. View over the small fishing boats right next to the maritime museum. Try the Flatbraud with hangikjot. A local specialiti Flatbread with smoked lamb.

“Good view.”

Good view of the old harbor, but pricey and nothing special. Open face sandwiches is the speciality of the place.
