Great for a couple of nights in town. Price is adequate to level. Great plus is the position in town. Close to the bus station and very close to all attractions in town. Other great plus is the service, they quickly answer to your requests and are very friendly. Minus is the space available in the rooms. It's very difficult if you have many luggages: no chairs, nor tables and small wardrobes. Need also to add more plates, mugs ans so on in the kitchen especially for breakfast.

When I booked I read it would be located in a quiet street, the owner sold that place. This one is on the busiest street and traffic is noisy in Iceland. The windows do not have double glass. It's central, but eberything is within walking distance anyhow. It's obviously a money maker, the owner sends a cleaning lady for an hour on the morning. Any other accomodation will give you a better sleep. The rooms are bigger than usual in Iceland and the other guests are open for conversation in the shared kitchen.

We stayed at Flying Viking Guesthouse in July 2013. It's a very nice place, we had a very clean room, the bathroom and kitchen was clean - and never vacated then you wanted to use it. The guesthouse are located very central in Reykjavik. The hosts are so nice and very helpfull! We highly recommend this, and a good price in Reykjavik too.

We stayed at the guesthouse for 2 nights. Upon arrival there was nobody there to officially check us in. We spoke to a person through an intercom / doorphone. She simply gave us the code for the door and informed us the room number. For the next two days we did not meet any staff.. At all! Very strange experience. We called them again over the intercom to say the internet was not working. She simply said she would call the Internet provider and that was it. Luckily 8 hours later we were able to use it. Upon check out there was again nobody there. (What if we wanted to settle payment by cash or get a receipt?) Find it misleading that this is not mentioned on their website or the other booking sources. It felt like we were a "bother" or inconvenience.
The room was okay, but nothing special.
I would definitely find another place to stay in Reykjavik if I were you.

The place was a little hard to find, because there is no way to see that it is a guesthouse.. But other than that. I think it was absolutly fine. This is not a hotel, it's a simple place to stay, and i was prepered for that. I was actually surprised by how nice it was. The beds where really comfortable. The place was clean and nice. The place also had a nice little kitchen, and seating area. There is a bakery close by, where you can have breakfast. :)

There was nothing at the Flying Viking to make staying there enjoyable. The place itself was difficult to find as there is no sign outside indicating it is a guesthouse. When we arrived there was no one working there so it was weird just going inside without checking in or something. It felt like trespassing. The bathroom got really wet from people showering and it just didn't seem clean enough. The guest room was not the cleanest either. The blinds were too thin so the sunlight was an annoying while trying to sleep. There was no TV or anything in the room except for a bed and small side table. The location was pretty good for walking to tourist places. The owner was nice but not around much.

We never got to meet our hosts, but they communicated with me by email for entry code and all info needed. Wifi was a little anemic, but easy to access. Location couldn't be beat, and for our first night, nice and quiet as we crashed with jet lag!
