Description: Baejarins beztu pylsur (English: The best hot dog in town) often shortened to simply "Baejarins beztu", is a popular hot dog stand in central Reykjavik, Iceland. In August 2006, the British newspaper The Guardian selected Baejarins beztu as the best hot dog stand in Europe. The majority of Icelanders have eaten at Baejarins beztu. It's downtown near the harbor and has been open since 1937. Foreign visitors are often brought to the stand to introduce them to the hot dogs there, which are often called "the Icelandic national food." Among famous people who have eaten at Baejarins beztu are Bill Clinton, former president of the United States, and James Hetfield, vocalist of the popular heavy metal band Metallica. A hot dog condiments include ketchup, sweet mustard, fried onion, raw onion and remoladi, a mayonnaise-based sauce with sweet relish. Hot dogs are often ordered with "the works," i.E., All condiments, or in Icelandic "eina med ollu".

This is a hot dog stand. It sells the best Icelandic hotdogs. I say it is a must to go there. This is always my first place to visit when I come to Iceland. No matter the weather, I love standing out there with a nice hot dog and have a look around the area.

I don't normally eat hot dogs, mustard or raw onion but was told I had to try one of these during my visit. The shack is nothing special to look at but the queues show you otherwise.

I had a hot dog with the works. The combination of the sauces was delightfully sweet and the onion added to the flavour rather than leaving a nasty taste in my mouth (to be fair, there's not much of it!). The hot dog itself was meaty and flavoursome.

The service was quick and friendly. You could sit at an outside picnic table to eat or stroll over the road to enjoy your hot dog on the waterfront. Oh, and the price is so cheap for Reyjavik that you should definitely buy two! I'd definitely visit again.

You have to stop by here at least once on your trip to Reykjavik. Eating out is an expensive affair in Iceland, so when you find a place that's cheap, take advantage of it. The dogs are about $3.40USD. They are served in a warm bun with various sauces on it. It is sweeter than how we serve American hotdogs, but still good. There are some tables that you can stand at, but no chairs. The service is fast and courteous.

After arriving in Reykjavik, we needed a quick lunch/snack and wanted to check out the famous hot dog stand. Luckily the line was not too long and we were able to sample the hot dogs. They were quite tasty and the toppings and sauces added a bit of flavor and flair. We also stopped by the stand on the way home from dinner on our last night. It's a quirky little place and worth checking out. The flavor is good and the dog has a lot of bite. Also, a good affordable option in a city that can be quite pricey.

This is THE place to go if you want a real hotdog. Reykjavik´s most popular fast food joint, which doesn´t look like much.

They only serve the hotdogs but they sure are good. I always go there whenever I visit Reykjavik.
