Description: Baejarins beztu pylsur (English: The best hot dog in town) often shortened to simply "Baejarins beztu", is a popular hot dog stand in central Reykjavik, Iceland. In August 2006, the British newspaper The Guardian selected Baejarins beztu as the best hot dog stand in Europe. The majority of Icelanders have eaten at Baejarins beztu. It's downtown near the harbor and has been open since 1937. Foreign visitors are often brought to the stand to introduce them to the hot dogs there, which are often called "the Icelandic national food." Among famous people who have eaten at Baejarins beztu are Bill Clinton, former president of the United States, and James Hetfield, vocalist of the popular heavy metal band Metallica. A hot dog condiments include ketchup, sweet mustard, fried onion, raw onion and remoladi, a mayonnaise-based sauce with sweet relish. Hot dogs are often ordered with "the works," i.E., All condiments, or in Icelandic "eina med ollu".

No idea why this is famous - it's nothing special. Tastes alright and isnt exactly massive. Mustard was nice and ketchup was poor. Cheaper than most of the other places in this city but still, there are cheaper hotdogs you can buy. Ultimately though... It was just an average hot dog.

These are the greatest hot dogs we have ever eaten! Who would have thought that you could find them in Iceland.
Get there early if you are in a rush, for there is nearly always a line. Order one or two with everything (includes fried and raw onions), a great tasting mustard, and other special things.
The building is small and almost like a food truck, and you can very easily miss the location. Just ask the friendly Icelanders where it is!

If you're going to try Iceland's famous hot dogs this is the place to do it. I'm too embarrassed to say exactly how many I ate during my stay. It was an inexpensive and delicious treat!

I'm not a big fan of hotdogs, but this one was so tasty. You have to order one with everything on it. The onions are battered and fried and mixed with fresh chopped onions. The Icelandic mustard, ketchup, and mayo all taste different--a little sweeter, and the hotdog is made from lamb. Order a diet coke with it; its bottled in Iceland using their famous water, so it tastes different (I would say it's tastier.) This is also the only place for a cheap meal in the touristy part of town. We had lunch here several times and really enjoyed it.

Small red/white food trunk at an obscure corner in downtown Reykjavik. Everytime we walked by, there was a line. Got the hotdog with everything for 420 kr. Everything = mustard, ketchup, onions, and fried onions. The hotdog was skinny, like Nathan's. Taste was just average. I think it's the fried onions that add to the taste.
