We loved the Peace Centre Guesthouse. We were only in Iceland for 2 days, with two teens, and we were made to feel very welcome here. Jon and Bogga were amazing hosts.

This BB was inside a private house (or at least it seemed like it) in a nice neighborhood (about 10/15 minutes car from the center however). The host was very, very nice and helpful, the rooms were cute and clean (it was a bit like being guests in a local family). You can use the kitchen (which was really quite nice). We also found the price really convenient (we stayed three nights so had an extra 30% disccount and it was the end of May, middle-low season).

As said before it was a bit outside (although rather easy to find with eg The Reykjavik Area Big Map which they give for free at the airport), don't really advise if you don't rent a car (unless you don't mind traveling by bus.. we did have a car, so we don't know how good the connection was).

There is wireless access for free.

Great place out of the hustle of the city, but only 5 mins drive to the centre. We were made very welcome, and every need was attended to. Super having a fully kitted out kitchen to use. Jon was extremely helpful, informative and a great host. Thanks Jon, appreciated. Anne & Chris, Glacier Books, Scotland

This place was amazing. The hosts were super friendly and went over and above to ensure we had a pleasant stay. This place is a little out of the way--but well worth it for the hospitality, price and friendliness of the hosts. I would recommend renting a car if you stay here so you can go on road trips and drive into the center of the city.

I stayed at the Peace Center for 4 days while in Reykjavik. It was a very pleasant stay. Staff was very friendly and I felt that I was staying at someone's home but with enough privacy (my own room). The bathroom is shared but it's cleaned often and I didn't have any issues with it. Although, when you turn on the hot water (as in many places in Iceland) there is a strong smell of sulfur that comes out. I was able to handle it but I think it's fair to forewarn guests. On the flip side of that, the cold water is exceptionally clean (and cold) right out of the tap. It actually comes from the same source that the bottled water comes from so there's no reason to buy bottled water. The kitchen access (which is fully equipped) is the best part because it allows you to eat for cheap-er. Supermarket (Netto) is just 15 minutes walking down the street. There is a bus stop right outside the house which you need if you don't have a car to get into the city center as it is about a 10-15 minute drive from the BSI Terminal. It's easy to figure out if you need to catch it for tours or your way out of Iceland. Though, if you're looking to stay somewhere very 'central', this may not be the place for you. I liked it though because it felt like 'home'. Jon and his wife Polka are exceptionally accommodating and friendly. I recommend this place and I'd stay here again no questions asked! Oh yes, it's also very clean!

My stay at the Reykjavik Peace Centre was peaceful and picturesque. It is located in a lovely residential neighbourhood about 20 minutes by bus from the town centre, and quite accessible by public transport. The facilities were very "homey" and warm and I really did feel like a guest in a relatives' cottage! Our room was very clean and quite...there were no worries about security or cleanliness that sometimes happen when you stay in hostels. BUT this is certainly NOT a hostel...it is a quaint and cozy guesthouse. Perfect for couples or quiet individuals. The staff were lovely and very very helpful, answered all of our questions, and even did online research for us to find the best route to get somewhere. I would happily recommend this place!
