Although the restaurant was full, the very helpful staff managed to set us a table for three and I'm pleased that they did for the experience is something not to be missed. The three course set 'Deep Sea Adventure' menu at ISK 4500 was excellent value. The thick, creamy root vegetable soup was served in a saucepan. I enjoyed the fish of the day, spotted catfish, which was tasty and well presented. The skyr and berry sweet was also very fresh and tasty. To finish, the coffee was quanintly served in a thermos flask. There is also a good choice of Icelandic beer at a cheap price. Not to be missed if you can get in.

Went here with a group. It was recommended by their concierge. This is mainly a fish place, but they also have burgers and a few other things. The staff was friendly and attentive. We were there for a couple of hours for dinner. I got the fish and chips. The batter was pretty thick, but it was good.

The food is ok at Íslenski Barinn and it's a cheapish place to eat in Reykjavik. The flavours are very main stream, hence my grading. You get a nice meal, but it won't leave a mark on your palate. The staff were very pleasant, but my waiter obviously didn't know the menu as he didn't know what the 3 course "Deep sea adventure" was (even though I pointed at it in the menu). But I got what I'd ordered in the end. The skyr with blueberries and biscuit was very nice. Cheapish beer seeing that it's Iceland. I probably wouldn't come here again, there are better places to eat in Reykjavik (however more expensive).

A cosy place to have a delicious but not overpriced meal. I noticed that a majority of customers were locals. Here they serve whale, puffin, lamb and other local specialities.

We stopped here for a cozy late lunch of lamb stew and beer. The stew is made slightly differently each day depending on who is in the kitchen. We were informed that people who grow up in Iceland are raised on their own version of this traditional Icelandic dish so depending on who is in the kitchen that day, the lamb stew changes according to how they were taught to make it. Both times we tried the stew, it was amazing! It's served in its own small pot and lid with bread and butter on the side. Be sure to try one of their house beers or any of the multiple Icelandic beers they serve.
